Job TitleVice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications
Position Summary
Serving as the university's chief enrollment, marketing and communications officer, the Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications acts as a strategic, tactical and visionary advisor to the President, The President's Cabinet and the Board of Trustees in the development and execution of the university's overall leadership, vision and management of the university's strategic enrollment, marketing & communication plans.
The Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications also provides leadership for all aspects of the university's efforts to engage the public through enrollment admissions, recruitment, marketing and communications.
The Office of Enrollment oversees the following areas:Undergraduate Admissions (freshmen and transfer students)Graduate AdmissionsInternational AdmissionsAdmissions OperationsThe Office of Marketing and Communications oversees the following areas as well:
Marketing (undergraduate and graduate)CommunicationsPublic RelationsVideo and PhotographyWeb Development and StrategyEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesContribute strategic vision and tactical oversight to build and implement a strategic enrollment management plan that achieves the university's enrollment goals, mission, vision and objectives; lead the offices of enrollment, marketing and communications with optimism and energy to increase enrollment of a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.Build data-informed enrollment projections and strategic recruitment, admissions, and financial aid decisions; analyze data to shape strategic directions; forecast trends in new-student markets; regularly assess the effectiveness of recruitment activities and scholarship programs; and continuously refine goals and strategies to create a proactive response to market forces.Establish strategic uses of financial aid and scholarship funds to meet recruitment and retention goals, ensuring packaging of financial assistance policies support the mission of the university.Build, supervise and lead multiple teams while continuously improving methods and processes - including customer service. Remain optimistic, responsive, innovative, analytical, energetic, results-oriented and student centered.Work to continuously understand and evaluate best practices at the forefront of recruitment in a modern and changing world.Build and manage the marketing/communications and enrollment annual budgets to achieve strategic goals and short/long term financial obligations.Remain current with issues pertaining to the enrollment and marking/communications fields through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and attending trainings.Engage in the University's institutional effectiveness process including annual planning and outcomes assessment, applying effective methods of evaluation and continuous improvement as related to the Division of Enrollment, Marketing & Communications.Develop research-based marketing and internal/external communication plans in support of the university's strategic plan to increase awareness of the university and its programs.Ensure that effective program plaining and assessment is carried out to accomplish the goals and objectives of the university's & the department's strategic plan.Evaluate staff based on performance criteria that supports and advances the department's and university's Strategic Plan.Work collaboratively with university subject-matter experts to initiate, implement, and measure the effectiveness of integrated marketing and communication strategy.Oversee the conception and design of the university's Web and social media presence.Lead or serve on university committees as assigned.Represent the university's mission, vision, and values at official functions on campus and within the community.Identify media relations strategies, monitor media issues and developments, and develop connections to raise institutional visibility.Oversee all public relations efforts for the university.Develop and implement innovative recruitment programs, including strategies to support the school's diverse goals.Establish enrollment goals with the assistance of the President and CFO.Ensure the goals are met, while communicating achievements and concerns with the President.Plan and implement strategies to meet the University's recruiting goals for attracting qualified applicants and converting admitted applicants to matriculating students and oversee all recruiting activities.Monitor the University's enrollment and issue periodic reports on number of students enrolled.Review, develop, interpret and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and university policies.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
Master's Degree in a related field required.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years of directly-relevant experience as a manager in enrollment or marketing and communications with demonstrated success, preferably in a higher education setting.
Experience in admissions and recruitment, integrated marketing, public relations, market analysis or communication. Progressively responsible management and supervisory experience is essential. A proven track record of creative and visionary leadership in the development of enrollment, marketing and communications plans in coordination with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated adeptness and creativity with emerging technology and a strong eagerness to learn new skills.
