Position Description
Georgia Southern University (GSU) seeks a dedicated and innovative enrollment professional to serve as its next Vice President for Enrollment Management to advance the institution’s enrollment strategy and growth.
Position
The Vice President for Enrollment Management provides strategic leadership in Georgia Southern University initiatives related to student enrollment, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, Military and Veteran Services, Enrollment Services, and International Student Admissions and Programs. This cabinet-level position reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Student Success. The Vice President of Enrollment Management will ensure that the divisional objectives are aligned with the university’s mission and goals. A strategic plan should be executed and continuously updated for the Enrollment Management units that serve the students on the university’s three campuses and aligns with the vision of the broader Georgia Southern University. In collaboration with the members of the President’s Cabinet, they will review, develop, establish, and implement university policies and procedures. The Vice President consistently exhibits service, collaboration, and excellence as championed by the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success.
Responsibilities
Establish and implement short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures.
Articulate student enrollment vision consistent with the University’s mission and strategic initiatives.
Direct formulation, implementation, and enhancement of recruiting strategies including marketing plans for recruitment and retention of students, enrollment policies, divisional operations, and services.
Lead the Strategic Enrollment Management Council (University-wide committee) along with representatives from functional areas that are essential to strategic recruitment and retention initiatives.
Provide leadership for functional areas of staff development, budget management, resource allocation, strategic planning, assessment, policy-making, and enforcement.
Develop, manage, and adhere to annual department budgets for the enrollment management unit and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.
Advise the Executive Vice President and President on enrollment trends that impact regional, national, and international enrollment outcomes.
Develop and mentor leaders within the Division of Enrollment Management while preparing them for future leadership roles within the University.
Oversee the student search process to build admission funnels for undergraduate, graduate, and online programs.
Collaborate with academic leadership to establish recruitment goals for colleges and programs, ensuring alignment with university-wide objectives.
Ensure high standards of customer service across all enrollment units to enhance student satisfaction.
Continuously improve processes to streamline student experiences, emphasizing efficiency, effectiveness, and personalization.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred) and comprehensive and progressive related work experience. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker with the ability to develop creative solutions and strategies related to enrollment management. This person should be comfortable working across multiple campuses and willing to travel as necessary.
In addition, it is preferred that the Vice President for Enrollment Management demonstrates:
A proven track record of achieving enrollment growth.
An ability to articulate a vision and experience implementing strategic initiatives and programs.
A strong record of leadership and success at progressively senior levels in higher education administration.
Demonstrated successful management capability at a complex and highly diverse institution, including project and resources (physical capital, human, technology, etc.) oversight.
Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving and research capacity, including ability to analyze or interpret and articulate complex information/data and documents.
Evidence of commitment to freedom of inquiry and expression, fostering an environment where all people are free to share ideas and opinions, and diversity of intellectual thought and expression for all.
Knowledgeable about contemporary issues and enrollment management theory in higher education.
Exceptional oral and written communication, fiscal/budgetary planning, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Highly organized with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and effectively managing priorities.
Capacity to exemplify highest ethics/credibility standards.
Skilled at building strong peer relationships and fostering student engagement.
Experience with the development and execution of enrollment marketing strategies and recruitment campaigns.
Knowledgeable about applying state, federal laws and regulations governing institutions of higher education and Board of Regents policy and procedure.
