The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting prospective students within a designated territory and coordinating outreach programs to increase student yield for Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC). This position focuses on developing and implementing recruitment events, conducting campus tours, and maintaining ongoing communication with prospective students, their families, and relevant stakeholders.
Job Duties:
1. Outreach:
Recruit prospective students based on the KYACAC schedule and focus on under-resourced populations within an assigned territory. Represent BCTC at various civic groups, community organizations, and business and industry events to promote the institution and attract prospective students. 2. Recruitment Strategy Development:
Collaborate in the development of recruitment strategies outlined in the recruitment plan, particularly those related to yield programs and events. Plan, execute, and evaluate recruitment activities at all Lexington campuses and regional campuses as assigned. Assess program effectiveness and identify improvements to achieve recruitment goals and objectives. 3. Admissions Counseling:
Provide personalized guidance to prospective students, parents, and families regarding admission requirements, transfer guidelines, scholarships, articulation agreements, and other academic opportunities. Conduct counseling primarily through in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails. 4. Customer Relationship Management (CRM):
Utilize CRM systems to enter prospect information, generate reports/queries, and communicate effectively with prospective students to maximize the yield rate. Track prospective student interactions and ensure timely follow-up. 5. Campus Tours & Recruitment:
Facilitate individual and group campus tours for the Leestown and Newtown campuses, providing a comprehensive and engaging experience for prospective students. Actively participate in the recruitment team and contribute to the overall success of recruitment efforts. 6. Recruitment Programming:
Co-develop and implement recruitment programs and events such as Open Houses, Preview Days, and other initiatives designed to increase student yield. Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance recruitment programming and campus visit experiences. 7. Faculty Collaboration & Policy Compliance:
Work closely with faculty across all technical programs to ensure a strong recruitment presence and campus experience. Serve on BCTC committees as assigned by the President or AVP for PMA. Maintain a strong understanding of Senate Rules related to admissions and ensure accurate interpretation when interacting with students. 8. Collaboration with Student Development and Enrollment Management:
Serve as a liaison between Student Development, Enrollment Management, and faculty to identify and present recruitment opportunities. Develop and maintain accurate reports regarding prospective students and recruitment activities using the CRM and the Enrollment Management Module. 9. Professional Development & Networking:
Maintain membership with professional organizations such as the Kentucky Association of Secondary and College Admission Counselors (KYACAC), the Kentucky Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO), and the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (SACRAO). Attend relevant state meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in admissions.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required and 2 years' experience in admissions, recruitment, or related field. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and advise prospective students, parents, and families. • Experience with CRM systems and data analysis to track prospective student engagement and recruitment outcomes. • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners. • Knowledge of Kentucky higher education policies and admission guidelines is a plus. • Willingness to travel as needed and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for recruitment events.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required and 4 years' experience in admissions, recruitment, or related field.
Additional Skills Requested:
Work Environment: This position requires occasional travel within the designated territory and across various BCTC campuses. Some evening and weekend work is required for recruitment events and activities.
