Assistant Branch Manager

Summary:
Provides a single source for most of the financial needs of Credit Union members. Provides loan-related cross-sales support in coordination with the VP Consumer Loan Sales & Underwriting and VP Branch Operations. Develops and implements cross-sales training for Financial Service Representatives (FSRs). Serves in a temporary supervisory role during the absence of the Branch Manager.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Assists members with loan requests:
Conducts loan interviews. Gathers and documents pertinent data necessary for underwriting. Cross-sells appropriate loan related products. Conducts loan closings.
Maximizes credit union cross-sales of loans and loan-related products and services.
Monitors credit union loans and loan applications to identify missed opportunities. Follows up with members on missed cross-sales opportunities as appropriate. Utilizes data to identify and provide training to improve individual FSR results.
Underwrites member loan applications within approved lending authority, adhering to established guidelines, policies, and legal compliance.
Utilizes sound judgement, meeting established delinquency and compliance objectives. For loans outside of designated lending authority, facilitates referral to an underwriter with appropriate lending authority.
Assists members with all aspects of Member Service, including but not limited to:
Account opening, servicing, and closing. Advises members regarding credit union products and services. Addresses and resolves member concerns. Provides quick and attentive service to members, whether in person or over the phone. Updates and maintains member accounts and personal information.
Actively promotes and provides product guidance to members.
Identifies cross-sell opportunities, successfully presenting and placing appropriate services that meet member needs in each interaction.
Provides temporary supervisory oversight for the Branch in the absence of the Branch Manager. Ensures uninterrupted department efficiency and service standards in the absence of the Branch Manager. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Performance Measurements:
Provides knowledgeable, friendly, and professional service & support to all members and associates. Quickly assists members in the lobby, promptly answers the telephone, and responds to messages in a timely manner. Develops and maintains proficient knowledge of all products and financial services offered by the credit union. Consistently consults with members, effectively counseling in regard to financial needs, credit union products & services, refinancing competitor loans, etc. Develops and maintains proficient knowledge of established credit union loan policy and guidelines, as well as applicable legal compliance. Effectively utilizes this knowledge to make sound lending decisions that adhere to policy, guidelines, and compliance. Maintains delinquency and loan loss ratios within established guidelines. Effectively consults with members regarding current and future financial needs, such as the importance for maintaining a budget, planning for future spending, analyzing consumer credit reports to identify opportunities to lower monthly payments and interest rates, consolidate loans, etc. Consistently and successfully, cross-sells loan related products. Goals: 80% GAP, 50% CL/CD, 40% VPP. Monitors and reviews credit union loan direct loan applications, approved but not funded loan applications, Rate Genius and indirect loans, and mortgage loans. Identifies missed cross-sales opportunities for potential follow-up. Identifies and takes action meeting individual FSRs training needs. Develops and implements loan-related products and services cross-sales training for FSRs. Effectively trains FSRs in cross-sales opportunities and techniques, improving the credit union's overall placement of loan-related products and services. Anticipates and prevents potential member issues, proactively offering products and services that enhance the member's ability to conduct business with the credit union (online banking, bill pay, phone app, etc.). Researches and resolves customer and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner. Accurately conduct all transactions, member requests, account maintenance, etc., utilizing sound judgement and abiding by all established credit union policies and procedures. Meet or exceed assigned goals. Provides professional and effective temporary supervision for the branch. Keeps management informed regarding key operating issues identified. Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
Five to ten years of similar or related experience.
Education
(1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Skills
The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job. Must have effective communication skills. Effective and successful supervisory/training experience. 10-key calculator, typewriter, and keyboard skills.
Physical Requirements:
Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. This includes but may not be limited to keyboarding, writing, and filing. Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods. Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 75 pounds for various needs. The person in this position constantly communicates in person and in writing with members, managers, and colleagues. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The ability to observe details at close range to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
