The Planning and Development Department is actively seeking a Zoning Assistant.
Did you know as a City of Jacksonville employee, you would also have 12 paid holidays and a personal leave day as well? This is technical work in assisting the public in the administration of zoning codes and ordinances. The work requires knowledge of the techniques, methods, and procedures used to regulate zoning codes which is gained through specialized training and job experience. Contacts require skills in understanding behavior and the ability to explain zoning code and regulations , including skills of persuasiveness, assertiveness, and sensitivity to others point of view. The work is semi-routine in that tasks are covered by procedures or precedents allowing latitude to consider the appropriate method, technique, or procedure to follow. The work involves differing situations requiring use of judgment in search for solutions or new applications within ones' known experiences. Work is performed in an office environment. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers, The physical demands are minimal and may require lifting up to 15lbs. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments vary and, although subject to standard practices and procedures, the worker is allowed to set priorities subject to superiors' approval.
