PACCAR Electronics Engineering organization has an immediate opening for an Electronics Software Release Engineer - Product Support to join our team in Kirkland, WA.

PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. PACCAR also designs and manufactures advanced powertrains, provides financial services and information technology, and distributes truck parts related to its principal business.

Job Summary

PACCAR’s Global Electronics department, which serves both Kenworth, Peterbilt, and other global class leading brands, has an opening for an Electronics Software Release Engineer - Product Support. This role is responsible for developing processes and managing issues from manufacturing and the field that are integrated with existing PACCAR Electronics Engineering processes to ensure accurate prioritization and timely resolution of defects.

Core responsibilities are software release and configuration issue resolution for all systems under Embedded Engineering’s control. Develop standard reports to track progress and performance of issue resolution.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Analyze issue related to Release control of software components and parameters for commercial vehicles for current product issues.

Release drawings to document software and calibration part number definition and parameter characteristics.

Complete engineering change notice documentation to manage software & calibration parts and parameter definitions.

Develop standard reports to track progress and performance of issue resolution.

Evaluate and improve processes for selecting, configuring, composing, and delivering embedded software.

Track and report the progress of support activities (sales tool updates, selection logic changes, programming tool releases, software tests, and any required regulatory submissions) leading to product quality improvements.

Support product launches at truck assembly plants as needed, and resolve field issues as identified.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers as well as other professionals to ensure the industry-leading quality of the content delivery is met/maintained/exceeded on all releases.

Coordinate with suppliers as needed to ensure purchased software is delivered on time and correctly structured for PACCAR use.

Up to 15% travel

Qualifications & Skills

Required

B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Software, or Mechanical), Computer Science, or equivalent degree.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, lean, collaborative team environment.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and planning/tracking skills.

Competency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).

Able to learn and use new processes and techniques and resourcefully solve complex technical issues.

Ability to translate between customer-driven sales requirements and engineering-driven technical solutions.

Commitment to reliability, value, and quality in all aspects of work.

Willingness to grow continuously, both personally and professionally with a strong result and goal-driven orientation.

Desired

5+ years of design & release of automotive or commercial vehicle systems, including software, electronic controls, switches, driver input devices, and/or HMI desire.

Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (MATLAB, C++, C#, etc.).

Awareness of heavy-duty commercial truck regulations, especially affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety, and On Board Diagnostics.

Understanding of truck design and application as it impacts electrical/electronic systems, architecture, and software-driven functionality.

Basic understanding of J1939 Communication Protocol, UDS, and Automotive Ethernet, as it pertains to programming and diagnostics.

Specific experience or expertise in one or more of:

Automotive HMI/Instrumentation/Driver Controls

Diesel Powertrain Control Systems

Vehicle Controls

The salary range for an Electronics Software Release Engineer- Product Support is $96,700-$151,300 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
