Position Summary
The Center for Maternal Health Equity mission is to pursue equity in maternal health by reducing maternal morbidity and mortality locally, nationally, and globally by building and strengthening community-academic partnerships, developing a competitive translational research program, and offering interdisciplinary and professional training. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations & Strategy who will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Center, federal and private grants, including strategy development, tracking of deliverables, managing technical assistance projects, and federal reporting. The Director of Operations & Strategy will be responsible for streamlining and aligning internal functions while executing the Center’s mission to reduce maternal health disparities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree is required from regionally accredited college or university.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in operations and strategy development.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, natural sciences, public health, healthcare, etc.).
Experience:
Proven experience in research project management, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
Prior experience in community engagement, advocacy, and nonprofit management, with a focus on health equity.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
Program Management:
Provide comprehensive program management support, overseeing multiple programs, contracts, and budgets simultaneously. Ensure the efficient tracking and reporting of programmatic metrics, milestones, and deliverables to maintain accountability and transparency.
Lead and manage the execution of complex research and development programs, ensuring alignment with the Center’s mission and strategic goals.
Manage and Integrate Technology, by developing and maintaining a system for organizing and storing projects and documents, including clear naming protocols, to ensure seamless access and continuity, particularly during staff transitions or leaves of absence.
Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with the Center’s Director on strategic planning, budget development, resource management, and ongoing monitoring. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize resource allocation and drive strategic initiatives forward.
Work closely with leadership to set priorities, allocate resources, and develop timelines for project milestones and deliverables.
Financial Management:
Develop and implement robust program plans and financial tools that facilitate accurate oversight, resource allocation, and adherence to contractual requirements across a diverse portfolio of grant-funded projects.
Prepare and manage program budgets, ensuring proper allocation of resources and adherence to financial regulations and guidelines. Oversee the accurate tracking of expenditures and manage budget adjustments as necessary.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate closely with interagency partners, leadership teams, and target user communities. Navigate complex workflows with precision, fostering positive and productive relationships to enhance program outcomes and drive mission success.
Serve as a liaison between the Center and external stakeholders, facilitating communication and coordination to ensure the successful implementation of programs and initiatives.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
Employ strong analytical skills to evaluate program plans, metrics, and outcomes. Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies to maintain project alignment with the Center’s mission and vision.
Program and Operations Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Center, ensuring that all programs and projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
Work with Center staff to support the planning and execution of events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and successful implementation from concept to completion.
Team Leadership:
Lead and coordinate the Center’s operations and strategy team, including hiring, training, and supervising staff. Foster a collaborative and mission-driven work environment.
Facilitate communication and coordination among team members, ensuring alignment with the Center’s goals and objectives.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations, including grant, contractual and financial obligations. Identify and mitigate risks associated with program implementation and administration.
Collaborate with HR in workforce planning and development (hiring, training and development, disciplinary actions, termination, etc.)
Board Relations:
Support the Center’s leadership in board management, ensuring that board members are informed and engaged in the Center’s activities.
Professional Development:
Stay current with best practices in maternal health equity, grant management, and nonprofit leadership.
Other duties as assigned

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
