The Department of Admissions is invites applicants to apply for a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position will benefits. The position will report to the Director of Admissions. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Under the direction of the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Associate Director will manage all internal operations within the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. The successful candidate will develop, execute, and measure a comprehensive recruitment strategy for undergraduate and transfer recruitment. The Associate Director will also be tasked with the responsibility for the Veteran Services Program. The program will include veteran friendly services and an increased awareness on campus as to the educational challenges and needs of veteran students and military-affiliated students.

ResponsibilitiesEstablish schedules and critical timelines that support the attainment of institutional enrollment targets for incoming traditional and transfer students.Manage the timely evaluation of student credentials for undergraduate admission according to admissions policies.Supervise office staff and staff development/training.Coordinate the evaluation of admissions applications for enrollment.Manage communication flow and respond to written and oral inquiries.Monitor workload measures and identify new approaches to improve efficiency (update policies and procedures manual and handbook and correspond with campus departments to communicate UMES programs).Assist with managing admissions and recruitment and marketing budgets.Promote community relations and regional awareness of the University.Compile and analyze current and historical statistical data for specific cohorts.Interpret and administer state statutes, policies, and procedures.Lead appropriate assessment efforts of Admissions Office activities.Provide oversight of prospective - student files to include request for final official transcripts and/or standardized test scores.Attend college fairs and other major recruitment activities.Plan and coordinate on and off campus recruitment events.Speak at various events related to admissions and recruitment.Serve on various committees to represent the Director with campus and external constituencies.Performs other related duties as assigned.Classification25-0000 Education, Training, and Library Occupations

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.Five (5) years' experience in admissions and recruitment.Administrative or supervisory experience.Experience in higher education working in an area related to Admissions and Recruitment.Experience with electronic data systems and social media.Experience with PeopleSoft or comparable student information systems.Critical to this position is experience in working in a high performing and functional admissions organization.Experience working with veteran services and programs.Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, data driven, decision making, and relationship building.Must be able to utilize Microsoft applications.Familiarity with best practices in college admissions is essential.Must be detailed oriented as well as have strong organizational and time management skills.Weekend travel and recruitment responsibilities is a must for this position.Preferred Qualifications

Skills in strategic planning, territory management, report building and maintenance, and the use of data driven decision making for planning and strategy development.Leadership and managerial skills - specifically leading a team of admissions recruiters, motivating top performance, encouraging creativity, reinforcing organizational and institutional vision as the team contributes to broad department and university goals.Excellent communication to include written communication skills.Ability to make presentations to diverse audiences.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and efficient manner.Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively with attention to detail.Ability to take active role as supervisor in the absence of the Director.
