Job Summary
The
Critical Power Field Project Manager
is responsible for the overall management and execution of projects on behalf of the customer throughout the project life cycle and is the principal point of contact for the customer with respect to the project. The Project Manager is charged with supporting the sales, operations, and service teams during the entire project to ensure a seamless transition from quotation through commissioning and acceptance by the customer. The Project Manager will have the discipline to create clear and achievable cost, quality, and schedule objectives and follow these objectives through to successful completion.
The Project Manager will also provide technical leadership to the sales & service teams. The Project Manager must be capable of self-managing and directing a team on awarded projects for electrical equipment, including working knowledge of critical power UPS, telecommunications, and switchgear batteries and power electronics (including UPS, Charger, rectifiers) and the associated component selection, system design & installation.
This position reports directly to the Regional Service Manager. This position could have 2-6 direct reports.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Plans, establishes, maintains, and regularly updates the project schedule for assigned projects.Collaborates with other Project Managers and Application Engineers to ensure clear understanding and completeness of project scope and project constraints.Manages communication, and distributes documentation between Concentric and its customersAttends pre-bid and bid-opening meetings as required.Perform site walks for sales quoting and pre/post job qualifications.Review customer specifications, drawings, and bid documents and provides change orders when necessary.Contingency planning expertise and knowledge.Supports the customer service team during order setup, material purchasing, invoicing and project closure.Prepare, distribute, and follow through with project safety plan including company, customer, and regulatory agency standards.Create, prioritize, and maintain project action item list.Maintain accurate as-built documentation and punch-lists.Monitors, reports, and controls costs on assigned projects within estimated project margin.Manage gross profit and other key performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.Reports, forecasts, and presents project financial activity to Concentric management.Work with suppliers on maximizing material and service margins.Provide market feedback to the Critical Power management team to position Concentric as an industry leader.Effectively manage business expenses to stay within company guidelines.Work with sales team members for joint sales calls and coaching opportunities.Be a student of the industry- work with OEM's and vendors on new technology to provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace.Work evenings or weekends, if necessary, to satisfy customers.Provide on-site supervision of installation / project activities.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Key Performance Measurements:
Project revenue, expense, and gross profit vs budget.Schedule attainment vs forecast/plan.BOM and SOW Accuracy.Customer satisfaction.Other key performance indicators as assigned.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited institution OR minimum 10 years of field service, project management and/or proposal generation experience with critical power distribution systems and high school diplomaMinimum 5 years project management in power and/or mechanical applications. PMP preferred.Demonstrated financial success as a project manager.Minimum 5 years of electrical industry related application engineeringWorking knowledge of IEEE, NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETAMay require working knowledge of Procore and/or project management software.Professional and motivational communication skillsStrong communication, problem solving, and analytical skillsAbility to organize his/her own work and work independently, with limited supervisionAbility to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote officesAbility to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needsAbility to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfactionAbility to work collaboratively with other departments toward the greater good of the organizationAbility to adapt to a fast-changing environmentExperience with ERP process flowAbility to set reasonable and attainable service goals in a variety of marketsProficient in Microsoft OfficeHighly independent with organized, strong work ethic and team mentalityMust be able to pass a background check and obtain an TWIC cardAbility to sustain a significant travel commitment*This job description is subject to change at any time.
