Field Project Manager
Job Summary
The
Field Project Manager
is responsible for the overall management and execution of projects on behalf of the customer throughout the project life cycle and is the principal point of contact for the customer with respect to the project. The person is charged with supporting the sales, operations, and service teams during the entire project to ensure a seamless transition from quotation through commissioning and acceptance by the customer. The individual will have the discipline to create clear and achievable cost, quality, and schedule objectives and follow these objectives through to successful completion.You will also provide technical leadership to the sales & service teams. The indiviudal must be capable of self-managing and directing a team on awarded projects for electrical equipment, including working knowledge of critical power UPS, telecommunications, and switchgear batteries and power electronics (including UPS, Charger, rectifiers) and the associated component selection, system design & installation.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Plans, establishes, maintains, and regularly updates a project schedule on assigned projectsManages communication, and distributes documentation between us and its customersPerform site walks for sales quoting and pre/post job qualificationsReview customer specifications and bid documents and provide change orders when necessaryContingency planning expertise and knowledgeAssist with order-entry and support to customer service teamPrepare, distribute, and follow through with project safety plan including company, customer, and regulatory agency standardsCreate, prioritize, and maintain project action item listMaintain accurate as-built documentation and punch-listsMonitors, reports, and controls costs on assigned projects within estimated project marginManage gross profit and other key performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basisReports, forecasts, and presents project financial activity to our managementWork with suppliers on maximizing material and service marginsProvide market feedback to the Critical Power management team to position us as an industry leaderEffectively manage business expenses to stay within company guidelinesWork with sales team members for joint sales calls and coaching opportunitiesBe a student of the industry - work with OEM's and vendors on new technology in order to provide a competitive advantage in the marketplaceWork evenings or weekends, if necessary, to satisfy customersOther duties as assigned by supervisorKey Performance Measurements:
Project revenue, expense, and gross profit vs budgetSchedule attainment vs forecast/planSafety Ratings (TRIR, etc)BOM and SOW AccuracyJob Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution OR minimum 10 years of field service, project management and/or proposal generation experience with critical power distribution systems and high school diplomaMinimum 5 years project management in power system applications. PMP preferredMinimum 5 years of electrical industry related application engineeringWorking knowledge of IEEE, NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETADemonstrated financial success as a manager, with 5+ years of management experience.Professional and motivational communication skillsStrong communication, problem solving, and analytical skillsAbility to organize his/her own work and work independently, with limited supervisionAbility to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote officesAbility to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needsAbility to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfactionAbility to work collaboratively with other departments toward the greater good of the organizationAbility to adapt to a fast-changing environmentExperience with ERP process flowAbility to set reasonable and attainable service goals in a variety of marketsProficient in Microsoft OfficeHighly independent with organized, strong work ethic and team mentalityMust be able to pass a background check and obtain an TWIC cardAbility to sustain a significant travel commitment*This job description is subject to change at any time.
