The Litigation Paralegal provides critical support to attorneys throughout the litigation process. This role involves managing case files, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with trial preparation. The paralegal is responsible for organizing discovery, coordinating case schedules, and communicating with clients and witnesses. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of court procedures are essential. The litigation paralegal must also be able to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and provide real-time assistance to attorneys during trials and hearings.Responsibilities:Organize and maintain case files, documents, and pleadings.Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with court procedures and filing deadlines.Coordinate case schedules, including hearings, depositions, and trials.Assist in preparing case summaries, chronologies, and trial binders.Conduct legal research using databases like Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other resources.Summarize relevant case law, statutes, and regulations for attorney review.Prepare legal memoranda and briefs based on research findings.Draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.Review and organize discovery materials, such as interrogatories, requests for production, and deposition transcripts.Assist in drafting correspondence and filings to courts and opposing counsel.Assist in the collection, organization, and review of documents for discovery.Prepare and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for admission, and document production.Coordinate with clients and third parties to gather necessary information and documents.Summarize depositions and other discovery materials for attorneys.Assist in the preparation of trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks.Attend and assist attorneys during trials, hearings, and depositions as needed.Coordinate with expert witnesses and manage their documents and reports.Handle logistics for trial, such as setting up the war room and organizing transportation for materials.Communicate with clients regarding case updates, document requests, and scheduling.Serve as a liaison between attorneys and clients during case management and litigation.Maintain electronic filing systems and databases for case management.Track billable hours and ensure accurate timekeeping for legal services.File documents electronically with state and federal courts using e-filing systems.Qualifications:Associate's or Bachelor's degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field. A paralegal certificate is preferred.2-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal. Experience with case management software is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.Proficiency in legal research and legal document drafting.Knowledge of litigation processes and court rules.Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
