Summary:
The Graphic Design Manager realizes a broad range of visual projects to support the organization's marketing and communications needs in addition to internal clients from a variety of departments.

Essential Job Functions:Support the organization through leadership of creative design in all relevant projects.Maintain the Houston Symphony brand identity, ensuring consistency across all designed materials while constantly evaluating, modernizing, and optimizing all products.Lead design and management of the monthly printed program magazine, InTune, and all standalone programs. Includes design, organization, delivery and coordination with advertising sales representative (external), proofreader and printer.Oversee production and design of print materials, including brochures, inserts, calendars, postcards, signage, and posters.Oversee digital design projects including social and website graphics, show promotional trailers, animated graphics, etc.Collaborate with Creative Director, Marketing Director, and Senior Director of Marketing on concepts for each campaign and advise on design to best serve the projects.Schedule, delegate, and prioritize graphic design projects for the design department. Includes management of Graphics and Media Designer and freelance designers.Project manage jobs from start to finish, including print bids, production, printing oversight and print delivery.Work collaboratively with members of the marketing team as well as other departments.Work concert duty as required. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends, usually once or twice a month as needed.Perform additional duties as required by the Houston Symphony.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or formal training in graphic design3-5 years job experience in graphic design and print productionStrong design portfolio with print and digital examplesExpertise in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator requiredExperience in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro preferredBasic conceptual understanding of marketing preferredStrong digital illustration skills a plusAbility to take design direction and adapt to constructive criticismExperience with leading projects from start to finish and coordinating with various stakeholders to achieve desired resultsFamiliarity with print production with knowledge of printing processes and materials preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills, including good proofreading skillsPositive attitude with a team approach to project conception and completionExcellent organizational skills and detail-oriented approach a mustBottom of FormAbility to lift 25-pound boxes, and load/transport materials as needed
