Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Specialist. This role has the option to be a hybrid role located at one of our facilities in Arden, NC, Fayetteville, NC or Greenwood, SC. Relocation will be offered to one of those locations to candidates who live outside 50 miles. A second option is a remote based role for candidates who reside in North Carolina or South Carolina who reside outside 50 miles of our three Eaton facilities. Both options will require travel to all mentioned locations

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year.

This opportunity will lead the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) / Six Sigma / Robust Product Engineering deployment for the Power Distribution and Control Assemblies Division.

Develop and implement a strategy to deploy an effective Six Sigma and New Product Development program to achieve a robust continuous improvement and problem solving process to drive results.

Provide direct support for the DFSS / Reliability Engineering program within the organization by leading and collaborating with Black Belts including mentoring Green Belts in the functions of engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to achieve desired business results through strategic projects, including PROLaunch.

Mentor and train others, especially champions, supervisors, managers and engineers, on the use of DFSS, reliability engineering, Six Sigma, including problem solving methods and statistical analysis.

Accountable for delivering functional performance results at the organization level of measurement to improve global competitiveness and customer satisfaction through related PROLaunch/DFSS strategies and projects.

Support efforts in the organization as work load or needs require.

Take ownership of DFSS deployment for Division Top 5 NPD programs.

What you’ll do:

Support championing the DFSS Program including Robust Products and Processes within the organization and ensures alignment with Eaton corporate and sector initiatives and processes. This includes overseeing PROLaunch/DFSS projects as well as Black / Green Belt resource deployment across the division and sites within the organization.

Develop functional competence in DFSS, reliability engineering and advanced problem solving techniques and analytical tools for Black / Green Belts within the organization. Coaches and mentors DFSS Black / Green Belt projects to ensure achievement of established goals and sustainable results.

Play an active role in PROLaunch to ensure flawless product and/or process launches. Ensures the successful completion of PROLaunch deliverables using Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology including Design Validation, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or First Article Inspection (FAI). Participates on Quality Review Boards for Phases 3 and 4 and takes an active role in Top 5 NPD programs.

Establish a risk management process to identify, prioritize, and cultivate future DFSS projects at the, division and product line levels which align with the PROLaunch portfolio.

Coordinate and conduct divisional and site training strategies and plans to support and drive improvement processes and tools (topics to include DFSS, reliability engineering, statistical analysis & problem-solving methods). Develops training modules as required to facilitate organizational development. Works with EQI to update and modify curriculum. Liaisons with Communities of Practice to incorporate lessons learned from other organizations.

Develop business acumen. Participates in the Eaton Business System and understands the linkages between Strategic planning, profit planning, Organizational capability, and Performance assessment.

Provide a catalyst for change/ improvement within the business. Uses knowledge of change management to facilitate and to sustain change within project teams, processes, procedures, and policies for PDCA.

Lead cost reduction / black belt projects in support of the organization’s cost reduction goals. Provides consulting and rapid response as required by customer organizations within and outside PDCA.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics or related field from an accredited university

Black belt or equivalent in DFSS, DMAIC or related areas

Five (5)+ years engineering experience

Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Engineering, Statistics or related field from an accredited university

Five (5)+ years in new product development

DFSS Master Black Belt

Ten (10)+ year experience in engineering or quality with at least five (5) in a function or technical leadership role

ASQ certification as CQM/OpEx

Experience and competence in the complete range of Six Sigma tools and process improvement techniques DFSS, DMAIC, LAN, EMQS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Travel Statement: Anticipated travel is 40% however may vary depending on business needs. Trip duration will normally be 4-5 days but could extend up to two weeks at a time.
