Peraton is seeking an
AWS Cloud Infrastructure Architect SME
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This individual is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role requires a deep understanding of cloud architecture, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure that the infrastructure meets business requirements and industry standards. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/ Transportation Security Administration (TSA) customer.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities: Lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or other similar frameworks to automate infrastructure deployment and management. Implement cloud security best practices, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and maintaining the security posture of AWS environments (IAM, encryption, network security). Continuously evaluate and optimize cloud performance, including cost management, auto-scaling, and resource provisioning. Lead the design and execution of migration strategies for moving existing applications and workloads to the AWS cloud. Partner with application developers, DevOps teams, and operations teams to build and manage cloud environments that support enterprise-wide initiatives. Implement AWS cost optimization strategies to ensure the efficient use of resources and reduction in cloud spending, using AWS tools and best practices. Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) strategies and ensure robust backup processes are in place for critical infrastructure. Establish monitoring solutions for cloud environments using AWS CloudWatch and other tools, and ensure high availability with appropriate incident management processes. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects, engineers, and cloud administrators to foster knowledge sharing and best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance. Bachelor's degree and 16 years' experience or Master's degree and 14 years' experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 20 years' experience. Deep understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance standards. Experience with security tools and practices such as IAM, encryption, and network security. AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional. Must have one of the following certifications:
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
