Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to join our team at our local manufacturing site. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an industry leader in building products.As the Quality Control Manager, you will manage and coordinate all activities of the Plant Quality Control Laboratory. Reporting to the Unit Manager and Manager of Quality Control for MAPEI Americas, you will ensure strict adherence to all policies, procedures, and instructions outlined in our Quality Management System (QMS), Employee Handbook, Health and Safety Manual, and any other company-issued guidelines.Key Responsibilities: Directly manage employees in the Quality Control Department, ensuring all managerial duties are carried out in compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Oversee planning, assignment, and direction of work; appraise performance, and handle employee development, rewards, discipline, complaints, and problem resolution. Manage all aspects of Quality Control in the Plant, including laboratory safety, equipment control, calibration, and the updating of working instructions, forms, and specifications. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise QC staff. Ensure team members are trained on testing methods and monitor their correct and consistent application of these methods. Review work for accuracy, neatness, and adherence to policies and procedures. Collaborate with Production to establish optimal sampling procedures and test frequency. Oversee the management of non-conforming products and returned goods. Work with Technical Service to investigate and verify product complaints related to finished products. Collaborate with R&D on research for the preliminary evaluation of alternative raw materials and other quality-related issues. Actively participate in testing new and modified products. Analyze Quality Control test results and propose improvements to testing plans, formulas, methods, and specifications for production processes, including any necessary temporary modifications to testing frequency. Measure and analyze testing errors, and implement training and improvement initiatives to minimize them. Compile and present composite Quality Control reports as required by the Quality Management System. Provide recommendations on the acceptance and qualification of products and processes for commercialization. Perform assigned tasks in conformance with procedures and instructions established in the Business Management System (BMS) and in compliance with applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory requirements. Proficiency in the use of general lab equipment is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint in a Windows environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in a manufacturing or process-driven environment. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university, along with 2+ years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training. Certification in Quality is a plus. Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. independently, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
