Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Research & Analysis:

Conduct in-depth research on and analysis of companies, industries, markets and competitors and deliver objective, meaningful insights in a concise, compelling way.Distill and provide intelligence to help inform firm strategic and business development initiatives and marketing efforts, and to uncover key, actionable information for business development strategy, and to provide succinct, meaningful recommendations for Firmwide business development and marketing strategy.Analyze and evaluate prospects and clients to determine if firm’s capabilities meet potential legal needs and identify strategies and opportunities to expand relationships with clients.Create comprehensive, analytical reports of research findings for development meetings and relationship building.Anticipate and report on legal and client market trends to supplement these initiatives and efforts.Monitor news and intelligence sources for business development and market visibility opportunities; and stay current on news and trends relating to key clients and prospects and their markets; and proactively distribute findings.Collaboration:

Team with other Competitive Intelligence Analysts to coordinate production and delivery of standard customized research deliverables, as well as larger and more in-depth research requests.Work and collaborate with Business Development & Marketing Managers on their practice group plans and initiatives.Partner with key firm personnel, information vendors and industry organizations to stay abreast of and assist in the review of potential resources for business and intelligence information.Work with Firmwide teams (Finance, HR, Intake, Legal Research) to prepare and present firm data for use in strategy and business development planning and marketing efforts.Other Tasks:

Contribute to firm and Marketing Department efforts to ensure internal data quality.Facilitate the use of CRM data in developing mailing lists, tracking activities, and identifying business development opportunities.Proactively engage in delivery of reports and analysis using internal data maintained in technology tools.Skills & Abilities:

Strong client service orientation; ability to interact effectively with attorneys and other key personnel; to manage and exceed expectations; and to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy and professionalism in these interactions.Reliance on proven analytical skill to draw conclusions and make recommendations.Resourceful and tenacious in pursuit of relevant information and accurate and accountable in its delivery.Ability to handle multiple requests/projects at a time.Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines and to provide information and reports in a timely fashion.Strong time management skills, ability to multitask and the ability to lead and/or contribute to research projects.Highly proficient in vital CI software: i.e. CapitalIQ, PitchBook, MergerMarket, LEXIS, WestLaw, etc.Proficient in in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).Experience with PowerBi or business intelligence tools preferred but not required.Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required; MLS, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.A minimum of 5 years of experience in research, analysis or competitive intelligence roles.Law firm experience preferred but not required.
