In addition, our Foundation provides grant opportunities to those with programs for under-served communities.Best People, Best Solutions, Best ResultsPlease Note: The Director of Accounting is a hybrid position that allows you to work remotely with the requirement to work in the Easton, MD office once a week.Job Summary:Directs activities overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organization, including strategic planning and execution of accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial stability throughout the work area. Owns responsibility for developing and implementing generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), in alignment with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements. Communicates direction for financial decision-making, providing insights and analysis on organizational budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.Directs department in all day-to-day accounting functions, including leading the monthly close and preparing and presenting financial statements and reports to senior management and other stakeholders.Directs activities related to budget development, financial forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.Ensures the governance and maintenance of effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.Collaborates with external auditors to coordinate all corporate and subsidiary financial audits.Directs and manages the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's effectiveness and efficiency.Follows relevant accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.Defines strategy to identify and assess financial risks, proposing and implementing measures to mitigate them.Communicates direction on tax planning and compliance to ensure adherence to applicable tax laws.Protects and maintains the privacy of associate personnel records, including compensation information.Manages team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional services and engagement, motivation, and team development.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises employees.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The project typically has well-defined goals and follows a well-established process. Typically completed in 12 months.

Required ExperienceEducation and/or Experience:Master's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or related fields from an accredited college/university or CPA eligible; licensed CPA/equivalent certification is preferred.At least 15 years of finance/accounting experience and 5 years of supervisory experience in accounting/finance functions is required.Must have prior government contracting experience.Demonstrated experience managing activities utilizing U.S. GAAP.Healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory.Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills.Adept at business intelligence.Adept at collaboration and teamwork.Adept at digital literacy skills.Mastery of problem solving and decision making skills.Mastery of growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others) skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred.
