Overview:

Responsible for Alex Lees corporate financial reporting and corporate payroll functions. This position partners with the Corporate Controller to ensure timely and accurate financial statements and to maintain processes that are effective, efficient and contain appropriate internal controls. In addition, this position is responsible for income tax accounting and compliance, and along with the Corporate Controller, financial software manager functions. This position is also responsible for all aspects of the corporate payroll function.Responsibilities:Selects, trains, and provides work direction to assigned personnel to contribute to employee development and the accomplishment of assigned objectives.Responsible for providing direction to the corporate payroll department to ensure that weekly and year end payroll processes are completed timely and accurately.Responsible for analyzing and implementing any new accounting pronouncements or regulations. Responsible for reviewing procedures and documentation for activity covered by such pronouncements or regulations. Must be able to propose necessary changes, then communicate and implement those changes. Must be able to work with the wholesale and retail Finance teams, the independent audit firm and other personnel in order to insure the accurate interpretation, treatment and implementation of new pronouncements or regulations.Responsible for the accurate and timely issuance of and oversight of the accounting for the corporate financial statements, including Alex Lee, Inc. consolidated, MDI Management, LLC, Capital Resources, LLC, ALI Insurance Company, LLC, and any other Corporate entities, as well as CMS/CISS.Responsible for the accurate recording of specialized corporate accounting topics including, but not limited to, the total company tax provision, general insurance, pension, supplemental executive pension, post-retirement medical, post-employment benefits, group health, vacation, and bonus.Responsible for managing the annual financial audit and the review and approval of various benefit plan audits required by ERISAPrimary liaison with 3rd party providers regarding income and payroll tax complianceLeads the continuous improvement of processes to ensure timely, accurate and cost-effective financial information and reportingResponsible for developing management reporting that provides insights and informs executive decision makingResponsible for administering the Alex Lee stock-based compensation plans and equity transactions in a timely and accurate manner to ensure participant satisfactionParticipates in other financial activities such as budgets, financial planning, and financial analysis for real estate, etc. as directed by the Corporate ControllerEnsures that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal laws, Alex Lee's financial policies, and generally accepted accounting principlesLeads or participates in special projects, as requestedQualifications:Should possess the knowledge and skills associated with a bachelors degree in accounting plus at least 10 years of accounting experience, some of which should have been in a supervisory capacity. A CPA is required, and an MBA is preferred. Should possess a solid understanding of financial statements and the underlying activity, including the requirements of GAAP and good internal controls. Should have experience in collaborating with tax consultants and a working knowledge of federal and state income tax compliance concepts. Should possess technical abilities required to maintain and maximize benefits from our financial information systems. Should possess outstanding leadership skills.
