Timken Belts, located in Springfield, MO, is searching for an Applications Engineer.

Position Summary:

Application Engineering is a key value that we provide to our customers. The role ensures the proper use of our products and often leads directly to business won. They often have the ear of and relationships with key decision makers within our customer organizations and are an essential asset to our sales team. The incumbent ensures that this team is trained, effective, efficient and working on the right activity to maintain and grow our business in the markets essential to the success of the business.

Essential Job Duties:

Leads and motivates the Application Engineering team supporting belt customersAligns resources to opportunities and as appropriate for the strategies of the belt businessEnsures the responsiveness of the team to customer related requestsEnsures the team is trained in the use of analysis tools and all aspects of belt design to appropriately consult with the customer on the right products for their needResponsible for managing the expense budget for the group which is largely related to travel and entertainment.Ensures the team complies with Timken policies on ethics and integrityAssures the team is engaged in problem solving and corrective action for customer quality and/or performance concerns.Provides input to the development team on product deficiencies and/or functional needs as communicated through informal and formal customer communicationsStays abreast of competitive activities and offerings in the market.Works with customer and sales as necessary to support the Applications Engineers in resolution of issues.

Technical/Functional Skills Required:Strong leadership skillsAble to think at a strategic level and provide input to the strategic planning processWorks well cross functionally and in a team environmentGood engineering skills and understanding of products and their applicationsOrganizedCapable of building business case for new opportunitiesMinimum Requirements:

Broad Familiarity with manufacturing processes. Belt/Rubber knowledge is preferred.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles or other Continuous Improvement programs.Management experience 1-3 years preferred.Engineering Experience 7-10 years preferred.Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Agricultural Engineering is preferred.
