In Tracy, California, the Taylor Farms Pacific Deli location serves our Retail Deli customers on the west coast and beyond with an assortment of fresh & healthy deli products. From freshly prepared meals to on-the-go salads and snacks, Taylor Farms Deli has amazing, chef-crafted recipes that keep our customers happy. Our love for healthy and wholesome convenience is what keeps us motivated to bring you nothing but the best deli products. We produce over 500 different products in our 24-7 operation.
Formally Pacific Precut Produce, Taylor Pacific has been in Tracy for over 20 years and was acquired by Taylor Fresh Foods in 2005. We are currently one of the largest employers in Tracy. Giving back to our community is our passion. We help organizations such as The Boys & Girls Club of Tracy, The Mc Henry House, The Tracy Family Resource Center, and the local schools, just to name a few. We also award four scholarships each year to our employee's children and grandchildren. The Taylor Farms culture is described best by our leader, Bruce Taylor, which is simply "Do the Right Thing!"
SUMMARY:
The Production Manager will direct and coordinate activities concerned with production of fruit and vegetable products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and crew leaders.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead a large operations team through their production plan, including real-time problem-solving to manage plan changes and labor requirements. Handle tactical and strategic responsibilities such as: employee concerns, planning for new items or customer launches, and managing a labor budget. Review processes and schedules seeking and executing continuous improvements. Understand how to plan production operations, establish priorities, and make changes as needed to complete the orders for the shift. Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications. Develop processes to improve processing yields, while meeting company and customer expectations regarding quality and workmanship. Streamline processes to improve operational efficiency and finished good quality throughout the plant Review production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays. Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Must adhere to all HACCP and Food Safety policies, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) Must comply with all policies regarding Employee Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs. Compute amounts of stock and supplies required to operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials form storage area. Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders. Interface with others in the company to ensure customer deadlines are met. Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. Develop, recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of room, department or work crew. Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems. Maintain time and attendance based on production needs. Manage overtime. Work closely with Quality Assurance and the Quality Systems Auditors to insure effective execution of all Maintenance -related sanitation and Food Safety programs and their documentation. Perform other reasonable job-related duties as assigned or requested. Must have a high level of problem-solving skills. Must be able to work effectively as a team player, with the ability to interact across departmental boundaries, minimizing conflict and maximizing good will across all company departments. QUALIFICATIONS: Job experience: minimum of 5 years of management experience or demonstrated equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred Bilingual (Spanish) required. Strong understanding of fresh food processing, including fresh fruits and vegetables. Ability to develop procedures, job descriptions, and other necessary documents, and keep them current. Be familiar with food-related and regulatory requirements such as: GMP's, HACCP, SSOP's, OSHA, and FDA. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and flexible schedules as needed. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and have a general competency in computer operation. Must adhere to all HACCP and Food Safety policies, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) Must comply with all policies regarding Employee Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ASPECTS: Stand and walk for a long period of time. Ability to use all four senses, sight, hearing, touch and smell. Work in a refrigerated room temperature. Work in a wet environment. Must wear personal protective equipment at all times.
