As the Safety Manager you will play a vital role in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for Koch team members, subcontractors, and customers. You will do this by coordinating and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures to pre-plan safety in our shops and customer sites to continuously identify and mitigate risks for an injury-free workplace. You will collaborate with Koch project teams, our shops, field services and our customers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards while fostering a culture of safety awareness.
Key Responsibilities:Safety Program Management:Continuously develop and improve safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with the Koch Safety Handbook and industry regulations and best practices.Develop a culture that all incidents can be prevented with a proactive approach to pre-planning safety. Administer a safety program where all voices are heard with stop-work-authority and accountability for zero tolerance of at-risk behaviors.Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of facilities, shops, job sites, equipment, and work processes to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.Travel to project sites domestically and internationally to audit safety practices and ensure compliance with established safety standards.Training and Education:Organize and facilitate safety training sessions for team members, new hires, and contractors to promote safety awareness and ensure understanding of safety protocols.Assist Koch teams and customers with site specific safety plans in accordance with the Koch Safety Handbook; implementing on-site training, communications, and reports to elevate safety awareness.Incident Reporting and Investigation:Manage and track incident reports, near misses, and accidents, and conduct thorough investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement preventative measures based on incident findings.Regulatory Compliance:Stay up to date with local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure the organization's compliance with all applicable laws and standards.Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to regulatory agencies as required.Emergency Preparedness:Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring team members are trained and informed about emergency protocols.Coordinate drills and exercises to assess the effectiveness of emergency plans and identify areas for improvement.Communication and Collaboration:Foster a culture of safety by promoting open communication and collaboration among team members and management.Participate as a member of the Koch Corporate Safety Committee to frequently address safety incidents, required actions from lessons learned, changes or improvements to safety policies, evaluating trends and providing guidance to continuously improve safety practices.Monitor field reports and collaborate with project managers and field service supervisors to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to safety protocols.Data Analysis and Reporting:Analyze safety data, trends, and metrics to identify areas of improvement and track the effectiveness of safety programs.Prepare regular safety reports and presentations for management, highlighting key findings and progress.TRAVEL

Domestic and international travel to job sites and other Koch Finishing Systems will be required, projected travel is approximately 40%.
EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Professional certifications in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional) are a plus.Prior experience in a similar safety-related role is preferred.Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.Attention to detail to identify potential hazards and risks.Analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively in emergency situations.Organizational skills to manage safety programs, reports, and documentation.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members, management, and stakeholders.Adaptability to handle changing priorities and environments in different project locations.Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across departments.Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.PHYSICAL / MENTAL / ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, and move around project sites and facilities for extended periods of time.Lift and carry equipment and materials, sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds.Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate uneven terrain during site visits.Use of hand tools and equipment during safety inspections and audits.Physically demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures during training sessions.
