STAFF DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Summary of Position:
The Staff Development Manager works in conjunction with Apis Human Resources and Recruitment and Retention to coordinate new hire training for The Children's Home of Reading (CHOR), and other Children's Division affiliates as assigned. The Manager also is responsible for coordinating ongoing/refresher training to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and internal requirements. Main responsibilities include updating the curriculum as needed, hiring, and supervising trainers at CHOR, tracking training compliance, assisting with developing training plans, and set-up and monitoring of the online training system, Relias.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssesses current training needs at CHOR, arrange trainings and update training plans as appropriate.Supervises all employees providing training including New Employee Development (NED), specialized training such as Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and other ongoing trainings as required. Ensure an appropriate number of trainers that are up to date with required certifications.Coordinates training calendar including NED to ensure all training and refresher classes are offered as needed.Communicates regularly with Apis Recruitment Department to ensure new hires are onboarded efficiently. Provides training reports to Human Resources/QI departments when requested.Creates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Training Program.Manages training databases (Relias etc.) including analyzing core packages and add-ons and creating/updated training plans.Provides reports on training compliance quarterly to immediate supervisors and leadership teams, and as directed or requested, to keep leadership informed of operation and progress of training efforts.Works collaboratively with leadership to ensure training compliance with federal, state, accreditation, other regulatory bodies regulations, and any internal training requirements.Develop new training programs as necessary, either by working with others to create/upload trainings to Relias or coordinating internal or external speakers.Collaborates with team members to schedule training plans, annual updates, and notify employees of training programs.Participates in Leadership meetings and/or Quality Improvement committees as appropriate.Maintain and audit employee training files.Conducts trainings as necessary to all programs.Travel to other affiliate offices to conduct training or arranges with training staff as needed.Occasional evenings and/or weekends, as neededPerforms other job duties as assigned.Qualifications

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in human services or related field (preferred)Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training (preferred)Some training experience.Two years' experience supervising staff.First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration and Trauma related training a plus.Language Ability
Ability to read, write and comprehend information. Ability to effectively communicate with employees and administration. Ability to professionally write detailed reports.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written and oral directions. Ability to interpret routine instructions without difficulty. Ability to apply rational/calm reasoning when confronted with difficult and/or ambiguous situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the Relias training system.
