The 3-time WNBA Champions Los Angeles Sparks are seeking a Director of Marketing to manage day-to-day marketing efforts for the franchise. This position is critical to building and retaining the fan base and is responsible for driving ticket sales and game attendance, working with the social media team to develop and implement social media strategies that drive business objectives, managing digital assets working in collaboration with leaders across the organization to ensure brand consistency and development. This position works under the direction of the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Revenue GenerationManage all day-to-day marketing assets including website (updating and analytics), email marketing, social media, SMS, database management and growth, using research and analytics to develop a comprehensive interactive marketing strategy to assist the franchise's revenue generation efforts in support of ticket sales and corporate partnerships.Oversee the day-to-day development and execution of Sparks individual ticket sales marketing efforts, by driving revenue campaigns that align with in-arena themed nights, supporting group sales and promotional ticket packagesCreate and implement email marketing campaigns and CRM development to drive demand for ticketing products based on day-to-day updates and engagementFoster a culture of ROI, data-driven decision-making, and organizational excellence by staying current on new and emerging direct response channelsSocial MediaWork in collaboration with the Sr. Social Media manager to establish social media strategy and develop learning plans to continuously optimize social media channels for business initiativesProvide content and social media oversight including assisting in managing influencer relationships with VP of Marketing & CommunicationsDevelop consistent reporting and campaign recap methodology, setting standards of monitoring and tracking for all digital channels to optimize and enhance performance on an ongoing basisAdvertisingEstablish and manage day in and day out testing and learning plans to continuously optimizing advertising spendDevelop annual media plan and oversee the campaign execution to ensure spend is meeting objectives across all channels, and maintaining adherence to brand guidelinesManage multi-marketing omnichannel strategies across social media channels, radio, TV, digital media buys, measuring the effectiveness of advertising and marketing campaigns.Work closely with communications team to amplify team and club messaging through content ensuring marketing assets are shared in broadcast, in arena and on all marketing channelsLeadershipProvide oversight and development of Marketing teamProvide mentorship and guidance to develop marketing staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities, while promoting a culture of high performance that values innovation and a commitment to excellenceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Experience using marketing as a tool for driving sales by creating demand and motivating consumers to purchaseAbility to think critically; research, recommend and implement solutions effectivelyIn-depth knowledge advertising buying paid and owned marketing channelsKnowledge of brand identity, advertising, digital marketing and social mediaStrong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentExcellent judgment and ability to develop, leverage and maintain relationshipsAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the capability to travel as requiredMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Marketing, Business Communications, PR preferred or related field5+ years of related marketing work experience in sports or entertainment3 years of experience leading and managing a teamPREFERRED:Previous experience working for WNBA or other professional sports teams or in entertainment or event marketingStrong familiarity with Los Angeles marketWORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as requiredAvailable to work on-site for Sparks home games and events, including late evening hours and outside normal business hoursMust be willing to relocate to Los Angeles, CAThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position.
