Overview
Job Purpose
The Senior Administrator, Systems Engineering is responsible for supporting and maintaining availability and high-performance in mixed UNIX and Windows development, non-production, and production environments. Additionally, the Senior Administrator is responsible for software builds and releases, which includes the design, development, and support of builds, scripts, and installation procedures, such as source code control and issue tracking. This position requires understanding of both software development and operations and how to identify manual processes and automate them using various automation tools.
This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and supports other engineering and operations teams. Additionally, the Senior Administrator performs root cause analysis of problems, identifies areas for process improvement, remediates issues, and executes tasks to deliver on project-based initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design, planning and implementation of server and SDLC solutionsTune systems for maximum available performanceEvaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patchesProvide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutionsProvide support to, and coordinate with, developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-usersEducate and mentor team members and operations staffTrain with senior team members to learn the ICE InfrastructureParticipate as a resource for project driven initiativesIdentification and automation of manual tasks using scripting and application developmentInvestigate and adopt new technologies/tools as needs ariseProvide first level support for all server related issues across the Enterprise in a 24/7 environmentConfigure Jenkins services for both builds and deploymentsAdminister and troubleshoot build and deployment issuesTakes initiative, is detail-oriented, and demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsKnowledge and Experience
Intermediate-level experience in any one of the below:
Build automation and configuration managementGit/BitbucketJenkins/Maven/GradleLinux (Redhat variants preferred) and Windows operating systemsAPI EndpointsScripting languages, such as Bash, Ruby, Groovy, Powershell, PythonJira, Service Now
Top-tier critical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in a service-oriented team environmentProject Management, organization, and time management skillsCustomer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experienceCommunicate effectively with both technical and business resourcesSpeak fluent EnglishPreferred
Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems EngineeringExposure to AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies
