DescriptionSAIC is seeking an experienced Senior Windows System Administrator to support our customer, NOAA GFDL, in Princeton, NJ. This position requires an ability to obtain a Public Trust and is hybrid remote with work at the local customer site (3 times weekly). Desired physical location is in the Princeton, NJ or surrounding area.The Senior Windows System Administrator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Provide Top-Tier System Administration for client and server systemsTotal ownership of Windows environmentOwnership of all Core Infrastructure and Windows environmentMaintain IT Security posture according to organization requirementsManage rigorous patching schedule for all system software and firmwareMaintain, monitor, support, and upgrade as needed the infrastructure environment, including the Windows Core Infrastructure, and lead enterprise base work initiatives and projectsSupport systems and applications of high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibilityPlan and execute projects and tasks as required by the customerIntegration solutions with other applications and platforms based on requirementsWorking with engineers on the requirements and provides recommendations for improvementsRecommend changes/enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability and performanceEvaluate future technologies and makes recommendations for software and hardware upgradesEnsure IT system security baselines are met and security improvements are implemented across the server and client environmentWork with vendors and customer to architect roadmapsDevelop plans to adopt new technologyQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Six years of experience in determining information technology effects on the organizational structure and determining the ability that IT can support/meet organizational goals.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related scientific or technical discipline:With a Master’s Degree (in the fields described above): four years experienceWith a PH.D. (in the fields described above): three years of experienceWith at least ten years of specialized training, a degree is not requiredExperience with medium to large server/data center environmentExperience working with Hypervisors, Virtualization Production Clusters (Ovirt), and Windows server hardware/softwareExperience managing and maintaining Active DirectoryExperience with system deployment, SW deployment and configuration management solutions: Ansible (most desired)Extensive experience developing/diagnosing automation scripts (Powershell)Experience developing OS security baselinesKnowledge of building systems for clients and servers; and knowledge of different classes of system architectureExperience managing VDI infrastructure; preferably Microsoft VDI solutionUnderstanding of licensing structures for Microsoft productsExperience with Backup solutionsExperience managing and maintaining software scalable network file systems, and centralized storage appliancesMust have a strong automation experience, software deployment, and configuration management solutions for multiple environmentsUS Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.Desirable Skills:Automation and Load Balancing ExperienceExperience with CAC / Smart Card authentication solutions such as Centrify in an Active Directory EnvironmentExperience managing and maintaining database clusters, preferably Microsoft SQL cluster and Percona XtraDB/MySQL clusterThe National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory environment consists of a Core Windows Infrastructure running on mostly Dell Hardware and Linux Hypervisors (Ovirt), with 200+ Linux workstations, 60+ Windows Workstations, and 20+ Mac Workstations. The IT Systems group ensures the NOAA GFDL 24/7 facility is up and operational, able to continuously work towards its mission.
