SAIC is seeking a Infrastructure Engineer to support our customer, NOAA GFDL, in Princeton, NJ. This position requires an ability to obtain a Public Trust and is hybrid remote with work at the local customer site (3 times weekly). Desired physical location is in the Princeton, NJ or surrounding area.

The Infrastructure Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Performing general System Administrator support as needed to support a 24x7 operations requirement. Will be required to support and continuously improve operations and monitoring of tools and processes.

Provide general support for production systems and services.

Diligently troubleshoot and properly seek assistance promptly when additional support is needed for resolution.

Ability to take a ‘total ownership’ approach to tickets and projects assigned.

Work directly with end clients and VIP users with superior oratory and organizational skills.

Partnership across internal resources and personnel to present best-case solutions to the client.

Patch Servers, Desktops, and Laptops according to a schedule, coordinated with the assigned end users.

Provide Level 1 and 2 support for Software and Hardware.

Assist / Lead Installations, roll-outs, research, technical support tickets, and projects.

Ability to work in independent environments under aggressive timelines with varying degrees of complexity and with ability to contribute to new ideas and methods.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related scientific or technical discipline.

Four years of specialized experience in determining information technology effects on the organizational structure and determining the ability that IT can support/meet organizational goals.

With a Master’s Degree (in the fields described above): two years experience.

With a PH.D. (in the fields described above): no experience required.

With at least 8 years of specialized experience, a degree is not required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Experience with Windows Infrastructure (Servers and Desktops/Laptops).

Clear understanding and Experience of Active Directory and its structure.

Ability to schedule backups, network scans, patching.

Experience with Networking and its relation to Window’s environment.

Experience with troubleshooting and documentation.

Ability to work independently and self-direct work.

Impeccable communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

Linux/Mac Skills

Program and Project Details:

The GFDL Technical Services Group serves the GFDL community, providing the technology, backbone, and support needed to enable the lab’s mission. The team, consisting of Computer Operations and Systems Administrators serves the 400+ end users in their day-to-day efforts, while ensuring the lab is on the bleeding edge of tech, ready to adopt new systems at any time. From upgrades to rollouts, to daily support, the team, consisting of 5 Subject Matter Experts, 5 System Administrators, and 14 Tier 1 / Data Center technicians, works to ensure the lab is fully operational, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
