Description
The Senior Information Security Engineer plays a crucial role in safeguarding the patient experience by ensuring the security of information systems. This position leverages extensive experience in engineering information security applications and systems to maintain compliance with Children's National Hospital IT standards. Responsibilities include configuring, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting security systems to meet performance and functional requirements. Hands-on experience with technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Bitlocker, InTune, Entra ID, DLP, Host-based Network Access Control, and Tanium is essential. Familiarity with CMDB and asset tracking in ServiceNow is a plus.Qualifications
Minimum EducationBachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in a computer science, math, engineering, or another relevant discipline or equivalent training and work experience (Required)
Minimum Work Experience5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on engineering and implementation of cybersecurity controls, systems, and applications (Required)
Required Skills/KnowledgeLimited experience in the application of key cybersecurity practices, controls, and frameworksExcellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; interpersonal and collaborative skills; and the ability to communicate information risk-related concepts to technical as well as nontechnical audiencesSome experience in the implementation of Cybersecurity applications and systems including network devices, firewalls, asset management tools, access management systems, and active directorySome experience participating in the application of systems engineering principles including requirements definition, system design, test planning and documentation, integration, and functional and operational testingLimited experience with engineering practices related to performing opertional tradeoffs in performance, functionality, cost, and efficiencySome experience in performing test measurement and analysis of cybersecurity and IT systems
Functional AccountabilitiesCybersecurity EngineeringInitiates and executes tasks involving the identification of cybersecurity system performance
Initiate and shapes tasking involving the operation, monitoring, and analysis of cybersecurity applications and systems
Coordinates actions involving the testing and deployment of cybersecurity systems including firewalls, network analysis tools, access management systems, and vulnerability management applications
Coordinates actions necessary to recover from system failures
Identifies key reporting metrics associated with cybersecurity systems.
