ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working under the direction of the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the Materials Management functions at Baer Manufacturing, including but not limited to scheduling processes, inventory management, packaging, transportation, and warehouse, with the objective of accomplishing production programs through optimum productivity and efficiency. This role will have direct line responsibilities for warehouse, shipping/logistics, master scheduling, and individual planners.

Works with Master Scheduling and manufacturing and is responsible for collaborating with Production Managers to develop shop loads, manpower, and capacity requirements to increase part flow and decrease lead-times and inventory.

Manages the activities related to establishing MRP schedules, including ordering procedures, lead-times, and level loading. Ensures the timely incorporation of engineering changes that affect ordering, scheduling, and inventory levels. Drives improvements of master data accuracy.

Serves as the site inventory leader and drives ERP strategies to enable efficient use of cash. Define and implement proper inventory controls to drive higher inventory accuracy in $’s and lines. Partners with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure action messages are being executed. Develops and implements process for conducting lead time assessments.

Ensures the integration of new business with no negative impact to the customer.

Develops and lead Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning cycle by defining and executing a robust process to drive supply and demand balance aligned to meet and support financial commitments for sales, cash, and on time delivery. Lead implementation and execution of inventory planning in line with SIOP including inventory predictions/modeling.

Manages packaging, transportation and shipping/receiving operations. Ensures all parts are packed to customer’s requirements. Ensure timely movement of product, materials and services. Select carriers and coordinate with carrier and transportation services to ensure pre-audit of freight bills, adequate preparation and negotiation of claims and compliance with applicable regulations.

Coordinate development and maintenance of automated systems and reports that provide improvements to the various elements of the materials management function. Engages supply chain to reduce “on the shelf” inventory levels.

Interview, hire, train, evaluate performance, and discipline subordinate employees, as necessary or required. Provides leadership with emphasis on teambuilding through effective communications. Develops an efficient organization structure that is responsive to program requirements and change.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Materials or Supply Chain or related field

A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, inventory, and operation planning

At least 3 years of previous experience leading warehouse, shipping, and receiving departments.

Superb leadership skills. Leading large organizations and functional teams

Ability to work among cross functional and matrix organizations

Ability to use statistical tools to guide decision making

Strong Excel and PPT Skills

Ability to present to Executive Level leaders

Lean leadership skills are a plus

ERP implementation experience a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a manufacturing setting.

Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) per warehouse requirements, including but not limited to, hard toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves and, high visibility vest.

This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.

Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.

This position may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
