The goal of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing to families. To accomplish this program regulation, the HCV Inspector is responsible for ensuring that units meet all Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and codes enforcement regulations before assistance can be paid on behalf of family. The HCV Inspector will establish and maintain a positive working relationship with tenants, co-workers, the general public, and representatives of community service agencies. The incumbent of this position is responsible for the screening and occupancy functions for the low income public housing program and/or the Housing Choice Voucher program, including, but not limited to, the following duties: 1. Ensuring at least standard performance under HUDs assessment systems indicators relating to inspections and rent reasonableness. 2. Carrying out the work of the Department in a manner that complies with all applicable Federal State and local laws, regulations, and PHA policies and procedures 3. Contributing to the maintenance of the financial health of the properties and responsible for the financial health of the Department 4. Conducting inspections process 5. Conducting Quality Control Inspections 6. Recommending improved operating policies and procedures, including submitting sample wording for such improvements 7. Submitting monthly and annual reports to the Director

Qualifications: -This position requires High school diploma or equivalent. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred or three years experience in positions involving housing or building codes or construction. -A year of experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a one-to-one basis for up to 2 years. -Comprehensive and demonstrable knowledge of HUD HQS inspection procedures, local building codes and residential inspection standards. -Basic knowledge of real estate principles. Knowledge of basic housing and building codes required for the program. -Bilingual a plus. -Must have a valid driver's license and must be insurable under HACP's automobile insurance. -Must possess HQS certification from a Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved organization.

Salary range $36k - $39k
