Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Category Manager – Chassis and Metal to join our Procurement Organization at our headquarters in Lisle, IL. The Senior Category Manager is responsible for mechanical axles and drivelines, braking systems and hardware including current generation advanced driver assistance systems, suspension systems, and steering components. The position will be responsible for direct material components and assemblies that has an annual turnover in excess of $1.BM annually. The position reports directly to the Procurement Director with multiple category managers as direct reports. Key responsibilities include synergizing with Traton brand counter parts, leading category strategy development and implementation while managing overall direct material purchase spend with a strong focus on delivering key performance indicators.
Responsibilities
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Build and develop the team
Work to develop and execute a sourcing strategy that best supports the overall Category strategy
Build and manage relationships with cross functional team members and management
Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met
Lead strategic sourcing decisions for both new product launches as well as transfer business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities
Identify and develop new cost reduction opportunities using variety of procurement levers including competitive bidding, global sourcing, negotiation, technology, supply chain/footprint optimization, target costing, aftermarket service parts, etc.
Analyze commodity spend, including developing recommendations for category and savings opportunities
Negotiate with internal customers and external suppliers to maximize results
Facilitate communications between external suppliers and various internal departments to resolve queries or issues
Lead implementation of cost reduction initiatives
Lead junior members of the Powertrain Procurement team in support of the department goals
Ability to travel 20-30%
In addition, this position would also contribute to larger strategy reviews of additional commodities, and support other strategic initiatives as needed. This position promotes alignment by understanding business, customer needs and requirements throughout the organization.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
At least 12 years of materials management or supply chain experience
At least 6 years of management experience
OR
Master’s degree
At least 10 years of materials management or supply chain experience
At least 6 years of management experience
OR
At least 14 years of materials management or supply chain experience
At least 6 years of management experience
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
