About The Role:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Planning Manager, melin is seeking an experienced Demand Planner / Buyer who wants to grow in a fast-paced environment. This role will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to generate and maintain a consensus sales forecast for all channels aligned with the business strategy. With strong analytical and communication skills, the Demand Planner will guide inventory optimization considering a global supply chain and frequent assortment changes.
With attention to detail, this role will provide insights into and transparency of sales and forecast developments for the executive team. This role will also work closely with direct-to-consumer channel owners to develop inventory buy plans aligned with store merchandising vision, revenue potential, and marketing plans. The Demand Planner / Buyer will also ensure inventory levels are strategically managed to meet demand and inventory turn goals, throughout the live selling cycle and at future replenishment opportunities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Demand Forecasting and Planning:
Generate and maintain a consensus demand forecast at the business unit and SKU levels.Recap and analyze actual sales results to adjust in-season sales forecasts. Adjust in-season plans ("bulks") accordingly and work to optimize across channels and regions as opportunities present.Analyze historical launches to drive future sales opportunities for NPIs (New Product Introductions).Monitor and communicate changes to sales forecasts, marketing strategies, and business objectives.Work closely with the sales team to gather sell-through data and manage consolidation and reporting.Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth NPI (New Product Introduction) and EOL (End of Life) processes. This includes collaborating closely with retail teams to ensure alignment with merchandising plans, launch calendars, and changes to forecasts.Inventory Management:
Develop and execute methods to optimize inventory levels.Analyze inventory trends and sales to make data-driven buying decisions to support and drive weekly, monthly, and seasonal demand.Collaborate with procurement to align purchasing strategies.Manage SKU efficiency, product profitability, and inventory turn KPIs.Monitor daily inventory levels across all sales channels, with a strong focus on ECOM, Retail, and Amazon, ensuring product availability and proactively communicating inventory risks or shortages.Own and manage bulk inventory, ensuring allocation aligns with forecast-driven business goals. This role is the primary owner of the bulk order management function for all direct-to-consumer channels (ecommerce, retail, Amazon).KPI Development and Reporting:
Develop, maintain, and improve demand planning KPIs for forecast accuracy, inventory efficiency, and product performance.Successfully manage and report on key performance indicators such as SKU efficiency, product profitability, and inventory turns.Be the first line of communication for product performance and escalating demand-driven supply issues to management.Prepare weekly and monthly executive summary reports, providing insights into demand, inventory, and sales performance.Other responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications, Education, Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree; preferably in Supply Chain/Logistics/Operations, Finance, Business Administration or related analytical field.Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a Supply Chain discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of direct experience in Demand Planning, Buying or Sales Forecasting roles.Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a fashion / apparel company is preferred.An ability to understand and balance the needs of Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to support decision-making in the best interest of the overall business.S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) experience is a plus.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Team player with outstanding analytical skills and a problem-solving mentality.Excellent communication and organizational abilities.Experience with sell-through reporting tools such as SPS Commerce.Proficiency in Full Circle, Tableau, and DOMO is preferred.Experience with SQL, Python, or VBA is a plus.
Location & Office Structure: This full-time position is in office five days a week in San Clemente, CA and subject to change based on business needs.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $66,560 to $79,000; salary is based on the experience that you bring to the position.
