Job Description
SmartRent is seeking a Senior Demand Planner with strong problem solving and analytical skills to join our dynamic team. The Senior Demand Planner will drive forecasting, planning, and optimizing inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock and associated costs. Forecast alignment and accuracy is a critical component of SmartRent's success and you’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to support corporate revenue strategy and goals. Since we have a smaller Supply Chain team today, our Senior Demand Planner also interacts with our various vendors and is responsible for buyer activities as well. In this position, you’ll report to our Sr. Director of Supply Chain Operations.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for all products and services based on historical sales data, market trends, customer insights and Channel Partners.
Collaborate with a cross-functional team including sales, engineering, marketing, operations, and finance professionals, to gather relevant information and align on demand forecasts and inventory strategies.
Monitor and analyze inventory levels, sales patterns, and market dynamics to identify risks and opportunities and make proactive recommendations to optimize inventory allocation and replenishment.
Lead the demand S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) reviews to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and inventory management strategies.
Continuously improve forecasting models, tools, and processes to enhance forecast accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Generate regular reports and dashboards to track key performance metrics, identify trends, and communicate insights to stakeholders.
Manage relationships with external suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components in line with demand forecasts and inventory targets.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce lead times, and mitigate supply chain risks.
Generate and monitor purchase orders and deliveries in alignment with the demand planning strategy and plan for every part (PFEP).
Conduct weekly meetings with vendors to review shipment status, ensure OTD, and stay informed about any potential delays. Proactively escalating potential issues as needed and collaborating on contingency plans to prevent stockouts.
Conduct a daily review of pending sales order queue and the back-order report, generating purchase orders for items not currently in stock.
Submit SKU requests for new product introductions/ replacements.
Routinely review and manage min/max inventory levels within the ERP system, validate expected inventory, and update balances based upon business needs.
Conduct quarterly reviews of slow-moving inventory items and collaborate with supply chain leadership to develop an effective strategy.
Collaborate with warehouse receiving team to ensure full receipt of purchase order quantities and coordinate with vendors to resolve any shipment discrepancies.
Update vendor scorecards for quality performance, review and adjust open purchase orders with accurate dates for finance, manage the liquidation of obsolete material and maintain the Yale shipping schedule in Google Sheets.
Perform other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in demand planning, inventory management, or supply chain analytics or relevant experience, preferably in a technology-driven or property management industry.
Proficiency in demand forecasting techniques, statistical analysis, and inventory optimization tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tableau, etc.).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify patterns, and generate actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and precision in forecasting and planning activities.
Proven track record of driving process improvements, optimizing inventory levels, and achieving cost savings in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry and adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
