PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader in Sterling Heights, MI. This is an initial 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
We have multiple openings for individuals with experience and a passion for software integration and test. The Senior Software Integration and Test Engineer plans and performs a variety of tasks across the areas of integrating hardware modules into a combat vehicle system, integrating software items onto Linux and Windows Operating Systems, scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening and scans, troubleshooting, problem solving, and software verification testing.
The Senior Software Integration and Test Engineer:• Develops, maintains, upgrades, and ports embedded product software and/or product support software to enhance, implement and support project/system functionality for the assigned technical effort.• Mentors less experienced software engineers to help develop their software development and test capabilities and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.• Collaborates across the other engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Systems.• Ensures that technical approach is consistent with established engineering principles and practices.• Ensures that product outcomes meet customer needs and that customer and company technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements are met.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in STEM fieldUS CitizenshipIntegration and testing of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows 10/11 Operating SystemsAbility to build and maintain a software and hardware integration testbedGit and Jira/Gitlab Configuration Management toolsExceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are a MUSTFamiliarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplinesAbility to solve basic technical design and development problemsAbility to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to solve technical problemsAbility to travel to the customer siteMinimum of 4 years of experience in software integration and testIntegration of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows 10/11Packaging software as RPMs and binary executablesDrivers, DLLs, shared objects, and static librariesDesired:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer ScienceExperience in architectural level software design using Magic Draw, Enterprise Architect, or similar model-based engineering tool (software developers)Experience using NI TestStandFamiliarity with combat vehicle functionality and capabilityExperience with developing on VxWorksFamiliarity with relevant military and commercial design standardsFamiliarity with UML modeling toolsFamiliarity with M88 functionality and capabilityFamiliarity with DOORSFamiliarity with CMMI for developmentFamiliarity with embedded systemsFamiliarity with C and C++ programmingFamiliarity with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python)Familiarity with Qt Framework for front end GUIs utilizing QMLFamiliarity with Ethernet based protocols (SSL/TLS, SSH, SFTP)Familiarity with Nessus and Coverity cybersecurity scansFamiliarity with hardening of systems and applying STIG rulesFamiliarity with the configuration and use of virtual machines
