Role Mission
The HR Benefits Manager will oversee the organization's benefits administration, accommodations, and leave management. This individual will play a critical role in managing medical, dental, and vision benefits for all staff, handling employee accommodations (ADA), and overseeing leave requests including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), personal leave, and other statutory leaves. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of benefits administration and leave laws.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration:Manage and administer the organization's employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance plans.Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and provide timely, clear, and accurate information.Coordinate and facilitate the annual open enrollment process, ensuring employees understand and select appropriate benefits.Collaborate with insurance providers to resolve any employee issues or escalations regarding claims, coverage, and billing.Ensure compliance with all legal requirements related to employee benefits, including ACA (Affordable Care Act) reporting.Accommodations Management:
Oversee and manage requests for employee accommodations under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), in partnership with our third-party vendor.Facilitate the interactive process with employees and their supervisors to identify reasonable accommodations and ensure compliance with ADA guidelines.Track and document all accommodation requests and outcomes, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws.Leave Administration:
Administer and track employee leaves, including FMLA, short-term and long-term disability, personal leave, and other statutory leaves.Ensure accurate documentation, communication, and compliance with federal, state, and organizational leave policies.Work closely with employees and supervisors to manage leave requests and support employees in their return-to-work process.Provide guidance to employees and leadership on leave-related questions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.Compliance and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to benefits, accommodations, and leave.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding benefits, leave, and accommodations.Prepare reports on benefits utilization, leave status, and other related metrics as needed by leadership.Employee Education and Support:
Conduct benefits orientation for new hires, ensuring employees understand their benefits options and enrollment processes.Develop and distribute communications regarding benefits, leave, and accommodations to ensure employees are informed of updates or changes.Act as a liaison between employees and benefit providers to resolve any benefits-related issues.Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources or Chief Legal OfficerQualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).2-4 years of experience in benefits administration, leave management, and/or human resources.Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to employee benefits, FMLA, ADA, and leave management.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong customer service focus.Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Preferred:
HR Certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).Experience working in a nonprofit, educational, or mission-driven organization.Salary
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $60,000-$90,000, depending on experience.

Salary Range: $60,000-$90,000, depending on experience.
