Samsung Research America (SRA) plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation of discovery in software, user experience and services for future products that can enrich the consumer’s life. The R&D Operations team at SRA is looking for dedicated individuals who want to be at the forefront of technology exploration and innovation.Position Summary:As a member of the R&D Operations group (ROG), you will work closely with our research labs to drive innovation, identify market opportunities and help facilitate partnerships and collaborations with academic institutions, startups, venture partners and leading companies in Silicon Valley.ROG members drive initiatives in identifying and analyzing social and technology trends, deep diving into emerging technologies and potential applications to Samsung, including understanding the technology landscape, identifying key experts and companies, and detailed competitive analysis of industry models. Our thought leadership is anchored in detailed diligence and robust data analytics.The team works across all labs at Samsung Research America including advanced research areas such as artificial intelligence, 5G and next generation communications, and digital health, and collaborates closely with product teams to innovate on experiences related to mobile devices, visual display, and home appliances.Position Responsibilities:Drive initiatives to identify key emerging technologies and/or applications that can be Samsung’s new growth engine. Work with SRA labs to research and analyze these emerging technologies for new product/service opportunities and build business cases and go-to-market plans for strategic markets.Support executive decision making for strategic initiatives and investment decisions by building compelling briefings. Work closely with internal and external subject matter experts, ventures and investment groups, and academic and industry partners to develop key insights and recommendations.Manage university collaborations and partnerships program. Build and maintain strong relationships with university faculty, researchers, administrators. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify partnership opportunities.Coordinate cross-functional and cross-geo team activities, setting project milestones, and motivating teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.Proactively address ambiguity through strategic thinking followed by tactical execution.Required Skills:Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (M.S.in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or MBA highly preferred) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.10+ years of proven industry experience in technology strategy management, top-tier consulting, investment banking or strategy/corporate development at a major technology company.Deep knowledge of emerging technologies in multiple verticals.Previous experience working with senior executives in a strategy or consulting capacity.Special Attributes:A self-motivated critical problem solver with the ability to execute at a high level.Effective communicator with strong leadership skills.Business proficiency in Korean, bilingual preferred.Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent. The base pay range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.Base Pay Range:
