Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and talented Water/Wastewater Engineer to support our Water Business line in our Conshohocken, PA Office. Clean water is our most critical resource, and we are expanding our team to address our clients' essential infrastructure needs. This position will apply your unique problem-solving abilities to assist our most important projects, including addressing the needs of changing regulatory requirements such as with PFAS, understanding the implications of aging infrastructure, and implementing state-of-the-art treatment technologies, among many other challenges in the industry. We have several exciting projects in both drinking and wastewater treatment applications as well as resource recovery of biosolids and energy and our own water treatability lab. Come further enhance our collaborative and driven team and work alongside our national practice leads for wastewater innovation and PFAS treatment based locally here in the Philadelphia region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Develop designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the guidance of a senior engineer.

Understand and evaluate complex water and wastewater utility systems, encompassing hydraulics, treatment unit processes, and solids management, among others.

Develop plans and designs to align with evolving regulatory requirements, such as those concerning nitrogen and PFAS.

Formulate capital improvement plans for water and wastewater facilities, covering both short and long-term planning horizons.

Evaluate the necessity for Maintenance and Operation (MOPO) and devise strategies for sequencing and staging in complex facilities.

Plan and execute pilot- and bench-scale experiments for novel treatment technologies, including PFAS removal, membrane filtration, and high-rate biological treatment.

Analyze system performance by preparing and interpreting mass balances, hydraulic models, and asset management systems.

Generate comprehensive reports, spreadsheets, charts, figures, and slides to effectively communicate observations, findings, and conclusions to audiences with varying technical expertise.

Independently execute tasks contributing to engineering work products.

Adhere to established budget and schedule parameters with minimal supervision.
