Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer - Highway / Transportation Design in New York City, NY.
General duties include a range from roadway and site-civil design, highway and bridge projects, rail projects for both design and project management.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details.
Design of rail and project management of rail and civil projects.
Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needs
Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates
Implement 3D CADD modeling techniques
Develop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards
Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures
Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews
Contribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budget
Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations
Interact with regulatory agencies, clients, and subconsultants in a professional manner as required by the AECOM project manager
Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff
Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making.
Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers

Possesses strong technical skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience
Applies broad knowledge of at least one professional discipline or advanced knowledge of specific technical and operational practices
Prepares project deliverables that are reviewed by senior team members
Obtains technical certificates and licenses, where applicable
Actively participates in professional or industry organizations as a committee member
Contributes in one or more areas of knowledge, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivering solutions where precedent may not exist
Performs a self-check of work products prior to submitting to others
Performs technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures
Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programs
Work is accomplished autonomously on small projects or portions of larger projects within established procedures and practices
Generally free to determine work priorities based on direction from manager and project team leads
Provides leadership by coordinating work of others
