Position Overview
The Finance team at Campus is responsible for the management of all financial operations, including but not limited to accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis. More specifically we:Enter, categorize, and manage day-to-day accounting entries using Quickbooks OnlineServe as the central point of contact for all AR/AP needs (e.g., payment processing, payment tracking, tuition reconciliation)Set an annual budget at the beginning of every year and track against itMaintain cost center forecasting files, as well as long-term financial projectionsDeliver financial reporting for month-close, quarter-close, and year-endCreate and maintain key metrics and KPIsAuthor, oversee, and submit industry-required reportingMaintain payrollWhat you'll do
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team, with a preference for someone who has previously worked at an early-stage startup.
As our second Finance hire (ever!) and a direct report to the CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management and reporting, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial operations. You will play a critical role in providing strategic financial guidance to senior management, supporting decision-making processes, and driving financial performance and operational excellence. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Categorizing daily transactions and reconciling accountsIdentifying the need for - and processing - journal entries to maintain accurate financial reporting, such as revenue and expense accruals, reclass transactions, and expense capitalizationMaintaining accurate records throughout the year for quarterly and annual tax payment requirements. Filing tax returns.Proactively identifying areas of opportunity, to better analyze and understand the business and its underlying metrics (e.g., continuously improve organizational hierarchy, introduce new metrics, maintain and automate existing key metrics, etc.)Assisting with budgeting and forecastingMaintaining the balance sheetManaging Accounts PayableAbout you
You have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related fieldAn advanced degree such as a Master's in Accounting, CPA, or an MBA is preferredYou have a comprehensive understanding of GAAP accounting principlesYou have >5 years of practical and progressive experience in accounting roles at well known organizationsYou are a proven self-starter with clear examples of taking initiative. You seek challenges. We are a startup, and many times deploy an 'all hands on deck' approach to tackling and solving problemsYou are proficient in common accounting software such as Quickbooks OnlineYou have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling (Data Analysis and Financial Modeling can be taught, Microsoft Excel cannot)You have a proven track record of showing attention to detailYou are comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity at timesLocation
