Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH) and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) are seeking a Medical Oncology Medical Director for our CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative in Astoria, Oregon. The Knight Cancer Collaborative is part of the Knight Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. This position is a Clinical Associate within OHSU’s School of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology.
The Collaborative provides comprehensive, personalized cancer care to help people in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington receive the treatment they need, while maintaining their quality of life. The Collaborative brings together OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's leadership and excellence in oncology care with the friendly, welcoming atmosphere of Columbia Memorial Hospital, a leader among Oregon’s rural hospitals. As part of the Collaborative, our comprehensive care includes radiation oncology, medical oncology, infusion, nutrition, social services, pharmacy, and patient navigation.
Function/Duties of Position
Support the mission, goals, and objectives of OHSU, The Knight Cancer Institute, The CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative, The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, and the School of Medicine.
Care for patients with hematologic and oncologic disease in the community clinic setting at CMH in Astoria, OR. Engage surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and primary care providers in the care of hematology and oncology patients.
Lead Cancer Committee (CoC) and Breast and General tumor boards. Participate with other Division and CHO staff and provider teams, as needed.
Be a member of the core leadership team in conjunction with the Administrative Director and Radiation Oncologist who provide Cancer Center program direction.
Participate in administrative committees and councils of OHSU and CMH as approved by Division leadership.
Participate in regulatory and other outside surveys including, but not limited to The Joint Commission, Planetree, and Accreditation Commission for Health Care.
Lead efforts to continually improve the safety, delivery, and value of oncology services.
Ensure operational excellence through achievement of organizational metrics.
Participate in community projects, education, screening, and program awareness events.
Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Division Head and CHO Section Chief.
Participate, as desired, in the education of medical students and house staff.
Participate, as desired, in clinical, translational, and research activities.
Required Qualifications
MD, MD/PhD, DO, MBBS, or MBBCh
Board Certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology
