Job Title: Chief Investment Officer
Position Overview:
The Chief Investment Officer, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), will play a key role in supporting the firm’s investment strategies, conducting in-depth analysis, and providing insights to inform decision making for high-net-worth clients’ investment portfolio. A strong understanding of global markets, asset classes, and risks associated with various asset allocation and risk management are essential, as well as experience working within the regulatory framework of the financial services industry.
This candidate will work in partnership with a top-tier institutional New York Research firm providing macro-economic research and active thematic investment advice. Key focus areas will be asset allocation, risk management, global insights, and specific investment themes. Extensive experience with high-net-worth client presentations and relationship management, including individual families and presentations to large client groups, is required.
Stavis Wealth, a start-up with a proven track record of success, was founded by a visionary CEO with a history of building and scaling wealth management firms. This accomplished leader previously founded and grew two private wealth management firms, each with assets under management at $1 billion. Both were successfully merged with public companies. The CIO will be instrumental in driving the growth of assets under management as well as the next phase of growth for this innovative and ambitious company, with the objective of achieving consistent performance while adapting to changing market conditions and managing risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management:CIO will collaborate with research firms to enhance market insights and strategic portfolio construction in conjunction with active management. Design and implement
model portfolios
across risk profiles using ETFs, public securities, and alternatives. Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models for portfolio analysis. CIO to create an internal daily report that provides daily, year-to-date, one year, and three-year returns. Create and implement a systematic review process for client portfolios to assess risk, return, and rebalancing opportunities. Determine optimal technology regarding support in real-time performance, daily updates, and quarterly performance reviews. Monitor and optimize portfolio performance against benchmarks, providing quarterly performance reports to clients and firm leadership.
Risk Management & Compliance:Implement comprehensive risk management frameworks. Ensure adherence to SEC regulations and CFA Institute ethical standards. Oversee portfolio compliance with client investment objectives ensuring alignment with fiduciary duties and regulatory requirements for high-net-worth clients. Develop risk mitigation strategies across portfolios.
Client & Team Leadership:Present investment strategies and performance to high-net-worth clients. Lead Investment Committee meetings, prepare weekly agendas, and foster strategic market conversations. Collaborate with portfolio managers and wealth advisors. Recruit, mentor, and develop investment team members fostering a client-centered and performance-driven culture.
Technology & Operations:Establish a robust performance reporting infrastructure, leveraging advanced analytics and reporting tools to streamline data accuracy. Oversee integration of investment analysis platforms. Optimize operational efficiency and trading investment processes, including automation where feasible to improve execution accuracy and reduce latency.
Qualifications:
CFA charter
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
10+ years of experience in creating and managing model portfolios with specific experience in managing portfolios for high-net-worth clients
Proven track record in alternative investment due diligence
Expert knowledge of global markets and asset classes
Mastery of financial platforms (Bloomberg, Morningstar, and performance reporting tools)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
Exceptional communication skills, capable of explaining complex investment concepts to advisors, clients, and team members
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
Extensive experience managing client relationships and navigating diverse financial markets, including both bull and bear markets
