Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Contract Negotiator for the Office for Research. The Office for Research’s mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty.Among the key duties of this position are the following:Supports Rutgers’ sponsored program and research contracting efforts; including but not limited to reviewing, interpreting, analyzing, drafting and negotiating research, clinical trial, service, material transfer, nondisclosure/confidentiality, collaborative, subcontracts, and other sponsored program and research-related contracts.Supports the research community with expert contract management services to grow the University’s research enterprise and establish and strengthen strategic alliances with its sponsors.Administration and management of sponsored program and research-related contracts.Develops negotiation strategy for each contract engagement.Negotiates contracts with external parties and drafts contracts in compliance with Rutgers policies, values, operations, and applicable laws and regulations.Prepares final contracts for execution by the Institution’s Authorized Official.Maintains and preserves Rutgers stakeholder relations with timely follow-up and professionalism.Identifies, evaluates, and resolves sponsor/faculty/departmental concerns related to contracts and contract lifecycle management.Maintains accurate and complete contract negotiation files/history, significant telephone conversation summaries, and contract files.Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.At least five (5) years contract management experience in industry or academia.Preferred Qualifications
Paralegal certificate or degree, Juris Doctor.Knowledge of contract law and contract construction principles, contract drafting, and contract negotiation skills.Experience with Huron Click/Commerce software for all contracts, DocuSign, Adobe, Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).Physical Demands and Work Environment
