This position will be responsible for ensuring the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.How will you drive value within the organization as a Corporate Counsel II?Act as the legal resource and offer counsel on all consumer financial regulatory matters impacting the companyDocument legal standards for use by business units and the Compliance departmentAssist in the legal review of all contracts with third party vendorsProvide legal support to Compliance-related initiativesResearch unique legal issues impacting the organization and develop solutions to complex legal questionsDeliver counsel to various business unitsMaintain electronic records and files that support work performed, results, and outcomesFoster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of managementPerform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by managementWhat should you already know to be successful as a Corporate Counsel II?Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School requiredActive member in good standing of a state barMinimum of one (1) year experience as a practicing attorney requiredMinimum of two (2) years’ experience in the financial industry preferredUnimpeachable ethics and integrity, as well as demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgmentExperience with cost-effective management of outside legal resourcesIntrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectivenessExcellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the businessExcellent oral and written communication skillsTeam player that can adapt in a fast-paced and changing environmentProficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as requiredCommitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competenciesExcellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to effectively set and manage multiple conflicting prioritiesAbility to think strategically and deliver tacticallyEmployment Requirements:This position is full-timeThe position does require travel, up to 10%While performing the essential duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:Remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the workdayConstantly operate a computer and other standard office equipmentTalk and hear to exchange accurate informationHave close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
