Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Americas CPA, IM you will act as a leader, strategist and communication ambassador for the Latin America (LATAM) region. You will amplify and accelerate key business priorities for the J&J IM business in LATAM, enabling the region to accelerate its market leadership goals and deliver ground-breaking pharmaceutical solutions for healthcare professionals and patients. You will develop an impactful team of 20 CPA professionals to implement strategic and coordinated internal and external CPA strategies. You will serve as a member of the Leadership Teams for the LATAM J&J IM business and the Americas J&J IM CPA organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy:
Leverage deep understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities to implement communications and public affairs plans that drive key business and reputational outcomes and shape the environment for the Company’s products and solutions in the region.
Connect country and regional platforms, presenting the interests of J&J IM LATAM with one voice for the benefit of the total global business.
Guide LATAM and CPA leads to use a full range of channels and strategies, including patient advocacy, media relations, policy influencers and employee engagement to promote, improve and defend reputation, while encouraging deeper levels of employee engagement. Work closely with J&J Government Affairs & Policy to drive patient-centric public policy outcomes throughout the region.
Executive Counsel:
Translate regional business goals into tangible CPA strategies and activities that support growth and reputation for a dynamic business.
Be a strategic advisor for commercial leadership, particularly the International VP, LATAM and LATAM Leadership Team, providing key insights and perspectives to influence business decisions, support business growth, enhance trust and advance thought leadership on critical topics.
Manage issues on sophisticated topics, including product safety, access and more.
Employee Engagement:
Harness organizational change expertise to drive alignment and engagement of employees across LATAM to Lead Where Medicine is Going.
Build trust in our strategy and improve the reputation J&J IM in the region with current and prospective talent.
External, Media and Public Affairs:
Lead media relations, patient advocacy, issues management, policy shaping and therapeutic area/brand public relations for the IM product and pipeline portfolio in LATAM.
Partner with Commercial, Government Affairs & Policy, Market Access, Medical Affairs and other leaders in the region to identify policy issues and prioritize opportunities to shape CPA plans in LATAM.
Contribute to comprehensive Americas public affairs and patient advocacy strategy. Support efforts to drive the debate for positive change to healthcare policies, ensuring plans are embedded within prioritized Therapeutic Areas in a compliant manner.
Leadership:
As a member of the Americas J&J IM CPA Leadership Team, help set the strategic approach on external affairs opportunities with a mindset on driving business objectives and delivering for our patients throughout the hemisphere.
Demonstrate critical characteristics consistent with expectations of senior level leadership: urgency, proactiveness, world view, autonomy, resilience and commitment to development.
Foster a One Team approach; collaborate and drive for the best outcomes.

QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 15 years senior-level experience in communications, public affairs or similar discipline; Pharma experience
Experience in mentoring and coaching a team of diverse communication leaders
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to partner with leaders at all levels
Creative and entrepreneurial, with a track record for translating critical thinking into action plans and outcomes
Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs today, managing complexity, ambiguity and multiple priorities
Operate with a business leader mindset, with appreciation, awareness, understanding and compassion for different ideas and styles of working
Ability to attract, hire, lead and develop impactful teams
Collaborate across the business, bringing an integrative view that connects people, insights and realities
Must be comfortable with business travel within the LATAM region
English language skills; Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
Salary
The base pay range for this position is USD $163,000 - $282,900
Bonus
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
