At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.TE Connectivity in Fremont, CA is looking for a Scientist to conduct novel polymeric and composite material development research with the goal of attaining improved material properties or additional functionality. Develop formulations through wet chemistry or melt processing for applications in various electronic devices/components such as connectors, sensors, tubing, etc. Characterize and evaluate materials formulations including rheological, thermal, mechanical, and/or electrical properties. Conduct research in corresponding processes such as potting, molding or extrusion to fabricate prototype devices with the material formulations. Document experimental data, generate technical reports, and present results at internal meetings. Capture materials and process innovation and contribute to TE’s IP portfolio. Perform literature/patent searches and scout commercially available technologies in the field of polymers and composites. Provide technical support to various business units as-needed on materials-related challenges.Requirements:
Master’s degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Macromolecular Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 6 months of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.Special Requirements:Laboratory research skills including fume hood use, PPE use, handling chemicals.Digital data storage and data-driven analytical tools, such as Excel, JMP, intelligent DOE, or AI predictive models.Requires some knowledge or experience with the following:Knowledge of polymeric and/or composite materials, including material chemistry, physical properties, formulation, structure-property relationships, and/or processing.Material characterization techniques, such as DSC, TGA, DMA, rheology, or Instron.Preparation of reports, manuscripts, proposals, and technical manuals for use by other scientists, collaborators, and customers.Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.May require employment and background checks.What your background should look like:ABOUT TE CONNECTIVITYTE Connectivity is a global industrial technology leader creating a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future.
