UV-Curable Coatings Co-op !Please note this Coop position is for active students only, and the commitment is 6 months from Jan-June onsite in our Fremont office.40 hours/week Mon-Fri.
About the position:
This is an exciting opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and learn new skills in the high tech industry.E Ink is the originator, pioneer, and commercial leader in ePaper technology. The Co-op will be an integral member of a team in Materials R&D that designs new polymer composite films used in next generation electronic paper displays.
This opportunity allows you to collaborate with a group of brilliant scientists and make a real impact. Projects include opportunities to evaluate novel materials, design new formulation, prepare lab prototypes, and perform various performance testing. The Co-op will have opportunities to develop knowledge in different formulation technologies, including solvent-based and UV curable technologies. The Co-op will also gain career-building experience to develop products from lab prototypes to a pilot scale production.
**To qualify for this position you must be an active student - please check with your school to make sure you can participate in a Co-op program.**
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out lab experiment under the guidance of Senior ScientistsCompound lab-scale formulations following formulation worksheets and SOPPrepare lab-scale coatings and test thermal, mechanical, and electrical performanceOptimize existing testing protocols and develop new test methodsAnalyze samples with techniques such as microscopy, UV-vis, light scattering, rheometry, and surface tensionHandle multiple samples and tests efficiently and reliablySupport DoE and pilot trialsOrganize and analyze data and share summaries and conclusions with team membersExhibit safe lab practices at all timesQualifications:
Minimum 2 years education in a BS program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science or related fieldGPA of 3.0 or higherComfortable working in a Chemical LabStrong chemical and mechanical intuitionExperience using Excel and statistical data analysis programsExcellent communication, organization, documentation, and attention to detailAbility to handle multiple tasks at the same time and manage own scheduleBenefits:
The anticipated base pay for this position is $30-40 per hour, DOE, for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
