About the position:
This position is in the R&D department. Its primary responsibility is to develop electronic ink/encapsulation technologies targeting electrophoretic display applications. The position requires hands-on experience with microfluidic devices for emulsions generation, encapsulation techniques, formulation development, and coating production and testing with limited oversite from project leaders.In addition, it will analyze data to compare formulation vs performance.
The position works with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and requires good communications skills, ability to collaborate, and high level of creativity. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to broaden their knowledge of other scientific fields such as materials synthesis, colloid chemistry, optical and electronic engineering, physics and color science.
The position is primarily based on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Work independently and collaboratively with other team members in planning and conducting laboratory experiments in the field of encapsulation
Directly contribute to the development of new designs including new emulsification and encapsulation processes/materials
Collaborate with other team members to develop optimal methods for performance assessment
Work with development groups to transfer and scale technology
Keep development on track, balancing speed and scientific rigor
Communicate clearly and document results regarding project landmarks, deliver presentations to the technical community and to senior management
Contribute to intellectual property of the company by generating patentable innovations
Qualifications
PhD in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science or equivalent relevant industrial experience
5+ years of industry experience
Experience with industrial process R&D, in particular with microfluidics, including device operation and design
Solid knowledge of fluid dynamics, colloidal science and microencapsulation
Strong materials characterization and data analysis skills
Good technical writing and oral communication skills
Ability to solve problems with good people and time-management skills
Highly self-motivated and resourceful
