Job Summary:
The Director of Research Computing and Data will lead the strategic direction in research computing and data to support and advance the University’s pioneering computational and data-enabled research. This role includes providing visionary leadership, resource and budget planning, faculty support, and expertise in research computing and data.
Responsibilities:
Lead development and implementation of research computing and data strategies for university-wide cyberinfrastructure.
Ensure data protection and oversee the University’s enclaves.
Develop and manage the research computing and data budget.
Develop models and strategies for sustainability.
Coordinate the acquisition, deployment, and operations of research computational and data infrastructure.
Support compliance with cyberinfrastructure-related requirements from funding agencies.
Engage with faculty, research centers, and external partners.
Facilitate integrations with on-premises and cloud-based research computing solutions.
Identify opportunities for growth and pursue novel technologies.
Develop scalable onboarding and support structures for researchers and students.
Develop and enforce governance processes, policies, and standards.
Complement existing research computing and data expertise at the university.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency; eight years of progressively responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills required.
Preferences:
10-12 years of related experience.
