Teaching responsibilities may include courses in offset, flexographic, and digital printing methods, color management, specialty printing, and/or materials for Graphic Communication. The ideal candidate will have a combination of university-level teaching experience and research potential. We are seeking applicants with an earned or nearly complete Masters/Doctorate in a related Graphic Communication field. This position is a tenure-track, 9-month academic-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Degree must be earned by the time of appointment.Salary:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $90,276 - $98,244/year, $7,523 - $8,187/month (Note that hiring level will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.)Although Cal Poly is primarily a teaching university, our faculty are expected to balance teaching with an active program of research/professional development (including publication), student supervision and advising, and participation in service activities at the department and college/university level. The typical teaching load is 12 units (three courses) per quarter, with a reduction in course load in each of the first two years to help new faculty establish an active program of research and professional development. Cal Poly strongly values diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), especially in the classroom and among its areas of study.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s degree in Graphic Communication, Media, Communication, Business, Management, Information Management, Data Analysis, or a closely related field; earned or nearing completion. Degree must be earned by time of appointment.Documented experience in university teaching, research, and/or industrial experience, in three or more of the following areas:Color management for digital and printed mediaDigital and conventional printing technologiesPackaging development and productionWorkflow for print production and convertingMaterials for Graphic Communication applicationsData management and data integration/visualizationEmerging technologies in print productionStrategic planning for graphic communication applicationsDemonstrated university teaching experience.Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. or a terminal degree in related fields, or industry experience, and a track record of committed research focus in related areas.Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.SPECIAL CONDITIONSAll CSU employees are designated "mandated reporters" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
