Santa Margherita USA is seeking a District Manager for NY Metro. The DM will report to the Area Manager.
Summary of Position:The District Manager is responsible for maintaining and growing the Santa Margherita USA portfolio of wines in their territory. The District Manager is a dynamic person who develops relationships in the market across the three-tier system. The District Manager trains and inspires distributor personnel and trade accounts. The District Manager represents the portfolio of Santa Margherita USA in their region and is responsible for helping to raise awareness for the brands in the portfolio. The District Manager plays a vital role in driving sales from trade accounts through to the consumer through education, market activity, and relationships.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Distributor Interaction
Brand/Wine presentations at General Sales Meetings (GSMs)Event activations for relationship development and brand educationAssist Area Manager in programming brand activities quarterlyAssist Area Manager in preparing & delivering business reviews against annual sales goalsWork with distributor personnel to achieve sales goals from Santa Margherita USA management (including new placements, revenue, case goals)Monitor inventory monthly & aid in ensuring on hand inventory supports sales needs in the market
Market activity
Sales calls to trade accounts, on and off-premiseDevelop and continue to build relationships across the three-tier network (with distributor personnel and trade accounts)Identify new account opportunities (call on, present and sell in)Maintain existing and ongoing relationships with trade partnersHost consumer facing events (i.e. wine festivals or wine dinners)Work with distributor salespeople against sales prioritiesWork independently in the market

Continue to develop and grow wine knowledgeIdentify and share opportunities to grow our business in a positive and impactful mannerDisplay original thinking and creativity for problem solvingCommunicate pertinent information between SMUSA management, distributor management and trade accountsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt and respond to change quicklyOther duties as assigned by SMUSA Management
Job Requirements:Preferred 5 years' experience in the wine industry with a supplier or distributor in a sales positionGenuine passion and knowledge of wine industry, interest in Italian wines preferredAvailability and willingness to work flexible hours and weekends, when necessaryCandidate must be able to travel around within assigned designated territory, valid and clean driving recordCandidate must be able to lift and carry a case of wine, 35LBSCandidate must be willing and able to travel to Italy, at the company’s requestCandidate must be willing and able to travel to corporate headquarters annually
