Primary responsibilities are to partner in teaching the department's large courses targeted to public health students at all levels, from undergraduate to advanced graduate, and to lead a subset of these and to provide intellectual leadership around biostatistics pedagogy and academic programs. Persons enthusiastic to innovate in teaching methodology and to advance educational knowledge are particularly sought. Scholars at the early and mid-career level are encouraged to apply.While the current position emphasizes education, the department prides itself on providing flexibility and opportunity for career growth. If desired, the position can be structured to include a collaborative, consultative, or investigator-driven research component. The department features both traditional classroom-based education and online education as well as educational outreach, for example through massive open online courses. Our faculty have a strong history of being leaders in developing innovative educational content in applied statistics and data science.The BSPH is the nation's oldest and largest school of public health, and it long has been ranked as the nation's best. The Johns Hopkins Department of Biostatistics, founded in 1918, was the first degree-granting department of statistical science in the US and has ranked among the world's best throughout its history. Education has been upheld as the department's guiding priority throughout its history and faculty are regularly recognized with the School's highest honors in teaching. Most importantly, the department prides itself on having a history of strong mentorship for junior and mid-career faculty, and a supportive environment for collaboration and collegiality, and diversity. Women and members of under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.Expected salary range: $90,000-$200,000, depending on previous experience. The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field. Individuals with a master's degree and experience teaching statistics/biostatistics at the graduate (and/or undergraduate) level will also be considered. The rank and title of the appointment will be determined in accordance with the successful candidate's experience and agreed portfolio of responsibilities.Application Instructions
